How to recover data from a pen drive that is detected by the computer but shows no media or 0 bite

I used a transcend thumb drive in my laptop and shut down the laptop for sometime. Later on computer detected it as a pen drive but did not show any file stored. Both free and used space was 0 bites. I have lost all hopes after trying several options.

Have you tried inserting the thumb drive into a different computer? Or try inserting it but wriggle the thumb drive a bit? USB connectors are prone to connection problems so make sure when you insert it you hear the usual sound that Windows make upon detection of it. Also try googling for: "usb drive recovery". There are some recovery freeware that you may like to try like: PC Inspector SmartRecovery and Zero Assumption Digital Image Recovery depending on what you intend to recover. Good luck!
