Why does the government say there is 10 percent unemployment, when there is a lot more?
I was self employed and I'm sure there is a lot more out there who can't collect unemployment. We played unemployment insurance and a lot of it. what do we do? We are not even noticed by the govt,we were a big part of this economy

There are many things which the government (any government that is) keeps away from its citizens. It is done to keep people from going into the street. One must remember that the government is made-up of a bunch of crooks who want to remain in power (at almost any cost) and so they tell the public what they think the public wants to hear for the most part.

Why should the government NOT lie about unemployment? They lie about everything else. Banking, credit, money, inflation, outsourcing, sex, health, insurance, terrorism, drugs, oil, other resources, energy... you name it. Why should they stop? Lying works for them. Lying keeps the lying politicians in power because the ignorant and idiot voters keep voting over and over for the same type of scum. Power seekers with nice smiles and/or "homey" charm (Obama/Clinton/Bush1/Bush2).

any and all administrations downplay the negative statistics and skew them as much as possible, I'd say the real rate is closer to twenty per cent

Why?? Because they can and the media colludes with them to enable it.
