Which article directory gives "stronger" backlinks beside Ezinearticles for backlinking purposes?

You can use a page rank checker to check each writing sites PR. The higher the PR the "stronger" the link. Ezine's PR is 8 which is why the links from there are so good.
Scribd.com also has a PR of 8. eHow has a PR of 7.
I haven't found any other article writing site that has PR 8 or more.

I don't just look at the pagerank, I also look at the visibility given by the search engines. Google does not always give visibility in their search engine to the highest pageranked sites like ezinearticles. It is always best to do a search in google for the phrase your article is about and see which article publishing site google is listing, then use that site also.
I agree with TV Mount Guy, Goarticles is excellent and I think Buzzle is about to make a huge leap to the forefront.

I would go for goarticles, amazines, article dashboard. All are dofollow which is what yo need if you want the backlinks for seo purposes.

Buzzle.com and GoArticles.com are two others that have a rank of 6. Ezine is the absolute best of the article sites, though. Of course HubPages isn't strictly an article site, but they rank very well.

Buzzle is great. Others worth considering. AmericanChronicle.com, IdeaMarketers.com, ArticlesBase.com
