Is it still a good idea for a Husband and wife to have a Joint Bank Account?

It all depends on whether you can keep from arguing about what you buy. I think it is good to have three accounts one for each person and a main one for bills.

My husband and I have been together for sixteen years and decided at the very begining to have separate bank accounts.
It works out wonderful..we both decided who would be responsible for what household debts and if either of us need the others assistance we ask.
For us it works beautifully...I get no surprises when I check my account and vice versa..no money arguments or hard feelings. I've worked all my adult life and at 50 + I don't want, at this time in my life, to have to ask for money.
