Well, first of all, one needs to understand music in it's purest form. Like everything or anything else, music too, has a language. In order for people to pay attention to your music, they need to hear what you are saying through your music. Too many times, I have heard songs that were empty and truly had no message. There must be a message. I repeat, there must be a message. Without a message, it is pointless to even play your song. It is almost like trying to talk to someone without actually talking. Are we on the same page? So, once you have established this message, the only thing left to do is to come up with an interesting hook, or intro and everything else will follow.
