The tithe was for the Levite Priests who were not given inheritance of land coming out of Egypt. The Levite Priests kinda "had it made." They did not have to work for nothing.

Did Yeshua fulfill the Torah? Most certainly did, but does this mean that He did away with the Torah? Of course not! Yeshua said He came to fulfill it, and not to destroy it. The Hebraic thought of fulfilling Torah means to carry out its intended meaning, purposes, teaching it correctly, etc.

Paul said in Romans 3:31 that our faith in Yeshua does not throw away the Torah, but it establishes it!

Tithing is tax so that the priests will have something to eat, so that churches will be repaired and built. It's not law, you can give when able. If it's painful to tithe then maybe, its like cable tv subscription you don't use, or the channels are not reaching you.

A prosperous church means a lot of people tithe because they feel the church gives them something valuable. If the church is poor, that means, its not giving anything relevant to people.

People are drawn to give. The 10% rule is just some priests who want 10% share of the communities wealth to benefit the church's institutions. Nothing wrong with it, priests are people too.

It is exactly like a payment for services rendered, and indeed it is a service. That's what its called, right?

Some people say that, but that is just not the case. Christ fulfilled the LEVITICAL law, not the "Old Testament" law. Remember that the Ten Commandments are part of the Old Testament. Does Christ's coming mean that we can take the Lord's name in vain, murder, steal, and commit adultery? No.

The law that Christ fulfilled was all of that stuff in Leviticus about making animal sacrifices and all of that.
