There is no such hard and fast rule that such syndrome will occur after 2 hours duration

The best way i give you to prevent that anyway

1) Keep blinking alongside

2) Something which can take off your attention from your monitor can be helpful... like a TV a bit far away or a baby too..lol

3) Zip the Contrast of screen down to the minimum ...in which u can read atleast.

Screen may look non-lively...but Worth it

4) Zip the brightness too as much as you can

5) Artificial Eye-Drops can be used once a day esp during midway session while sitting...without any worries.

In last six yrs of heavy "PC usage"...i felt its sypmtoms just only for 1ce after using the above measures.

Hope that helps

Regards :)

You have probably experienced a feeling of strain in the eyes after hours of some monotonous activity, prolonged reading or sitting at the computer.

Excessive close work can lead to deterioration of vision.Working on a computer for long hours can cause several health problems – eye strain, headache, backache, burning eyes and so on.

The only way to avoid these symptoms

is to take short breaks at regular intervals. But the problem is most users fail to remember to take breaks.

Eye Tricks is an excellent little free Windows utility that reminds you to take rest and save your precious eyesight.

You can get it here:

You need to reduce the contrast level of your monitor at first, because excesive amount of contrast hurts our eyes though it gives maximum satisfaction in viewing whatever is on the screen.

What I do after every 30 minutes of uninterrupted work, I keep staring at any object which is faraway (about 20 metre) for a moment. Somewhere I read that a few continuous blinking in a dark area and scrolling eyes from top to bottom and left to right for not more than 2 or 3 times makes the thing pretty relaxed.

Since it is not possible for us to escape from computer, here are some methods I use to protect my eyesight:

Do not work until your eyes burn; Take short breaks every hour of work. This means get at least once every hour and walk around. Look away from the screen every 15-20 minutes for a minute or two. Look at things close and far away to allow the eyes to adjust and move around. The goal is to avoid the strain in the first place.

Blink as often as you can to keep the eyes lubricated. Take a few minutes to roll the eyeballs around; you can do this with your eyes open or closed to avoid looking silly. Open and close your eyes often to give them a short break. Yawn if you have too. Yawning stretches out the jaw muscles and keeps them from becoming tense causing headaches and eyes strain.

Hope this helps! : )

Maybe this works only for me. First I need glasses, I made them with a subtle shade that protects me from the screen's glare. I also take frequent breaks in between my compute work. When I am working on a project, it also helps me to re-charge and get fresh ideas, plus I have the benefit if discovering mistakes that otherwise would go unnoticed. Lastly, but the best, I pamper my eyes a few times a week with those nice masks I found under these pages. They work wonders. Today I did one of those treatmens and my eyes were looking bright, rested and my skin looked radiant. So the combination of taking breaks, pampering my eyes, and taking five minutes to totally relax has gone a long way for me.
