i love reading and surprises in finding new books. I spend so much on books i have to find a cheaper way: are there any free books available?

I wrote a hub on the six must know book sites out there, including paperbackswap.com and gutenberg.org. You should check that hub out.
I also use bookcrossing and bookmooch. Although not 100% free, it is only the cost of shipping those books.
