Start simple do not strain yourself. Get a tenth (1/10*your salary) of your salary every month and keep it aside by having a secure means of keeping it an appropriate bank account of sort.

Make it your life commitment. This is paying yourself FIRST. Since this question is One year old I hope you have done something by now.
