It is not an either/or proposition for me. I was a professional archaeologist and am a licensed American Baptist minister and there is no problem between the two for me. It all hinges on your interpretation of Scripture, that is the approach you take to the text. Frankly, for me, this is a wonderful time to live in, seeing humanity discover how God has created the universe and all of us in it and how God continues to engage with us who live in it. It is awe inspiring. You can learn more about how I feel on this issue by visiting my hub dealing with this subject.

I believe in creation because tens of thousands of living things and species, their food sources, exact atmosphere to sustain life, proper rotation of earth, changes of seasons to perpetuate life-cycles, just the right distance from the sun, a moon that regulates ocean tides to sustain marine life, etc................., do not all occur simultaneously from an undirected, non-purposed, non-meaning evolutionary process. This would require millions of accidental occurrences that are all working in perfect synchronization.

Huge passages of time would not contribute to this being more possible because even eons of time will not make things happen undirected and non-designed. If you bury some metal and glass in the ground and uncover it in a billion years, it will not have accidentally formed itself into a wrist watch.

The wrist watch analogy as comparatively weak as it is compared to the vastness of creation and the incredible complexities of it, still helps illistrate the point. Scientists are still intrigued even by singly observed things like the human eye. It really looks astronomically amazing when you consider the planet and universe.

Evolution having fit all of these millions of things together in perfect sync simply takes too much faith and far more than to believe in an intelligent designer having created it. If you'll notice it was also created with breath-taking beauty which would not make sense for practical purposes - from the evolution perspective.

Creation or Evolution - which theory do you believe in?

I would respond to that question by asking why does this really have to be an either/or scenario? Is it really so impossible to believe that if God had created the universe he/she/it would have created it... keep reading →

Who would you believe, a funny little man with a fuzzy beard who died doubting his own theories or the Godhead who created everything and holds everything in place with the Power of their Holy Spirit?

No contest.
