The situation in the Middle East is not any different than it has been for years. The answer, as it pertains to us, has always been what does Russia and China think of our position. Russia is no longer a factor in my opinion and the key to getting China involved is Japan. Our interests in the Middle East primarily are all about finances and we cannot talk about U.S. finances anymore without China being involved. The bottom line here is China fears nothing more than Japan becoming a power again; they have feared this for 1000 years. We are the key to Japan obtaining world military power again so the solution is simple. We explain to China that if they continue to refuse to support us, in the world not just the Middle East, they leave us no choice but to look to Japan. I believe this will make the Chinese take a good look at their investment in the U.S. and decide that maybe it is to their benefit to stop leaving us standing alone. I think it has become a game to China, they know they hold the cards especially in the North Korea situation and it is time we made them play their hand.
