Agree so much with comments here!
I think you need to work out what works best for you. I mean if you've been in a 20 year marriage and it's ended - it's a different process to if you've been dating for 3 to 4 months. Not a different heartbreak necessarily - but a different process.
There is a saying that pain is mandatory - suffering is optional.
You have to go through the pain to get the closure- but after that you can choose not to feel the ongoing pain that we usually feel after the breakup (ie: the suffering)
So keeping to this - I have used self hypnosis in the past quite effectively - and if you can't do this yourself sometimes you can just find a hypnotherapist who will help - they just start to work on the thoughts you're running through your mind that are allowing you to feel broken hearted.
I'm not sure if it's your thing or too way out there, but if you look at how calm people get when they meditate, you can see the affect it has.
Also - so important to keep healthy through it too - I remember once I was juicing and exercising a lot and the happy feelings you get when you're at optimal health overcome the depression you feel.
Anyway, hope that helps - sorry if it's too way out there!

1. You need to share your feelings.
Getting out what you are feeling is going to make you feel better inside. You want to share these feelings with your friends and family or anyone that will listen to you. Having a good support is going to help you get through the tough times faster. You do not have to let it out all at once. Talk about it slowly and work your way up to getting it all out in the open.
2. Think about what is good for you.
You have to get over this broken heart fast so that you are able to feel better. You need to make good choices for what is good for your heart and soul. Make sure that you are not putting yourself in any situation that may be harmful for you. Getting over the breakup is important and you need to do what is best for you.
3. Taking good care of you is important.
You want to keep eating and exercising and staying healthy. You need to keep your strength up so that you are able to be strong and able to feel good about yourself. This will help you get over the break up and get back on track.
4. Let it all out if you want to.
Crying is good. You do not have to be embarrassed about crying. It is part of life. You will find that there are going to be hard times that hit you all of a sudden and you will feel like crying and letting it all out. You need to do this anyway to keep your sanity. This will help you feel better and get back on track. You need to do this when you feel the urge and do not worry about what others think.
