1st you will submit an application then if accepted you will go into police academy for training some smaller town police dept, has police volunteer reserves maybe you can join this to get a better idea if this is what you really want it isnt easy to do this type of work i can tell you for a fact police officers just never know what will happen there is nothing Routine in this work traffic stop domestics what have you accident calls they put up with a lot of crap and their lives are always in danger a punk stopped for speeding pulls a gun or a little domestic dispute someone pulls a gun

so i reccamend trying the police reserves volunteers be sure you really want this
