Is it too difficult for an immigrant to become successful in business career in Canada? Does it require knowledge of French?

I worked for a couple of weeks in Canada. Specifically Toronto where they speak English. If you act business-like and are successful in the USA you should have no problem doing the same in Canada. Quebec is the main province where French is spoken. Typically the people I met understood both French and English but they did seem to prefer French, although I couldn't speak a word of it.
You can vote each answer up or down to show your support or disapproval. You cannot flag an answer, but if an answer receives enough down votes compared to up votes, then it will become hidden.
