Quick Tip: Although the old tip is to photocopy your passport and leave it with someone you trust, it is better to scan your passport before you leave and either email it to yourself or upload it to a photo site that you control. That way you can access your passport at any embassy in case you loose it, rather than having someone at home try to fax or email it to you.
