What are your views on gay marriage?

I am a lesbian and my partner I have been together for eight years. In Feb. 2009 I adopted a new born and she is now in the process of adopting 2 year old twins. If we were a married couple, we would both be the adoptive parents and we would not be paying extra to get guardianships. All of the legal protection that are offered under the law by civil marriage would cost us thousands of dollars and many many hours. And yes, I did say civil marriage, while weddings are often held in churchs, they are a legally binding agreement, that is recognized by man's laws and the nearly 50% of marriages that end in divorce must be ended in a court of law. I am a strong believer in God, but God's law, at least in our country is not the legal form of marriage.

This is issue is not being dealt properly by both its advocates and its oppositions. It just creates noise rather than enlightenment.
