It's all for making the day memorable for them.
Having your significant other around you on this day, exchanging gifts, receiving all this attention and care do make you smile. You finally extract time out of your hustling schedule of office work or household chores.
But what are you to do if you are single? You may have preferred to stay in that state or probably life has driven you into this. Whatever may be the reason, singlehood surely comes with freedom, efficiency, self-dependency, king-of-my-own-world feeling along with awkwardness in certain situations, as this day have plenty as such in its store. Hence there are 12 ways to not only help you go through the day but also to comprehend it with a smile on your face.
★STOP FEELING AWKWARD
It is awkward to be alone at any public place, such as restaurants, or theme parks, on this day. Whether or not people are observing you with the corner of their eyes and whispering, you keep feeling they are definitely doing it and that is the same as you wandering at streets wearing your underwears outside. EMBARRASSING, isn't it? Or, is it? The other day I was watching kindergarten kids queuing up to be handed to their parents at the end of their school time. All of a sudden, the lean bright eyed boy at the very end of that line stumbled on something and landed on his two small palms of his. As a reaction that kids catch up from their elders, other children giggled at this scene and the boy showed an expression of embarrassment for a brief moment but the surprise was, he shrugged it off and asked others what was wrong. Children started saying how he fell and how funny did they find that scene. This smart little bloke stood his head high and affirmed, he was imitating the climbing (well, his one would look like crawling) posture of spiderman and did some somersaults to exhibit his athletic ability. And right from being the laughingstock of the crowd this smart kid had 7/8 other boys asking him how does he do that. So, point here? No matter how embarrassed you feel anywhere, PLAY COOL.
★NO LOVER AROUND? BE YOUR OWN VALENTINE
How long have your corcern about closed ones overlooked the blemish and sun burns and little wrinkles and unattractive hairstyle and the dark circles? Look in the mirror. Don't just see, but give yourself the look you need, give yourself a break. Appreciate your well built features. Go to a soothing spa or a haircut or any activity that physically and mentally gives you a retreat. Indulge in that pleasure and peace. You deserve every moment of it.
★LOOK DIFFERENT: Try Something New
Plan to wear an attire that will make you look attractive. Style your hair differently, wear little (or more) make-up, wear colours that creates warmth in your heart, choose your accessories with attention and lastly please do wear a smile even if your inside fights against it. Quite soon you'll realize you are carrying it without effort and will be glad about your venture.
★GIVE YOURSELF PRESENTS
You have everything you need? Do you? A dress, a great car, a new game, a treat at your favorite restaurant- present yourself anything that would make you feel sated.
★FIND COMPANY
There must be someone in your knowledge who does not have a valentine to spend his/her day with. Might be your parents, grandparents, siblings, a friend, a colleague, etc. It doesn't matter who it is, actually. I decided to spend that the day with my best friends mother as she lost her husband some months ago. Be someone's stronghold. It's a day to love after all and love goes beyond boundaries of a relationship between a man and a woman.
★THROW A PARTY
Throw a party for single people. No one may appear, or, there might be more people than you expected to appear. Don't get worked up on that. Ask attendees to help you out. Plan games and activities. You may end up having a great time. Keep your hopes up.
★GO TO A PUBLIC GATHERING
A concert, a match of your favourite game. Don't shut yourself up there. Socialize. I, last year, collected a great friend that way.
★HOBBIES? WHAT ARE THOSE?
What do you love to do? Sing? Paint? Observe people? Cook? Watch sports on your favourite channel? Make a hot air balloon? Hectic life turned us into programmed machines. Snap out of it. Do what you love to do, for hours. Something positive, something constructive and gratifying, something that will leave you feeling more alive at the completion.
★SEND CARDS AND WISH INDIVIDUALLY
It may sound a little overboard but if a text message holds ability to make someone's day, this one might be as effective. May be take some time out to make and send e-card to every loved ones of yours. And because what goes around, comes around, you'll definitely end that day feeling cared for- exactly the sensation we humans hunger for.

Just a warm embrace or a friendly hand is enough to start the chain reaction and probably then we won't need a special day to celebrate and protray our love for each other.
Show it. And trust me, there's no harm in it.
