A Thank You To My Boyfriend
When I was younger, I dreamed of having a boyfriend that would love me and cherish me for me. In high school, I dated guys who used me and did not treat me how I deserved to be treated. When I started college, I did not want anything serious. However, once I met my current boyfriend, I fell head over heels for him.
I met him at a party. I remember walking in with my friend and we were the only two girls there. The second he walked in, I knew I wanted to talk to him. Eventually, he came over to me and introduced himself. We talked for three hours about everything under the sun. He was the first boy; actually, MAN, I ever felt comfortable with to tell my hopes and dreams to! I left the party without his phone number, and I was so anxious to see him again. Since we both attended the same college, I knew I would see him around. Being that he was a senior and I was a freshmen, I was nervous to actually wander around like an idiot around him. Months later in February, I found him on Facebook. I added him and we started messaging. We have talked non-stop ever since.
Our first date was at O'Charley's restaurant. We were there for three hours that night. Our first date was the best date I have ever been on in my life. Our second date was at Red Lobster, and I knew I really liked him. That day he told me about his past, and told me I was the first woman he ever felt comfortable with. Our third date he came over my house to meet my parents. That night we had our first kiss. On March 31, two days after we kissed, he asked me to be his girlfriend.
That summer my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer. She suffered a stroke and passed away. He was there for me through it all. That summer I fell in love with him. I never knew what it was like to have someone special until I met him.
My sophomore year was filled with him graduating and getting a better position in his field. I have watched him grow as an electrical engineer, and he is saving lives and protecting crews while working on power lines. When I switched my major, he supported me whole-heartedly. We became even closer than I thought. He gave me a promise ring and proved his love.
My junior year was the best year of our relationship. For my 21st birthday, he bought me my dream present; a Louis Vuitton bag. He is so giving and loving. For the past two and a half years,
he has been here for me. Through every breakdown, every tear, every laughter, I know I can rely on him. Although he is super busy, I know he loves me and would do anything for me. He has been talking about engagement and I could not be more excited. My parents admire him and think he is giving and loving. My friends say that we are "relationship goals", but in all reality, we just love each other and will do anything to make us work. When we have a disagreement, we do not yell and scream. He has never once called me names or hit me. That is a true man. One that loves you even when you disagree.
I can honestly say that the past two and a half years have been better because of him. I believe in myself and know I have found the person I want to be with the rest of my life. He is strong, kind, loving, smart & handsome.
Joe, thank you for everything you have done for me. You mean more to me than you will ever know. Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for wiping my tears away when I cry. Thank you for staying up late and talking to me on the phone when I need you. Thank you for feeding me when I am hungry and cranky. I love you with my whole heart meep!
