Cheap and Fun Date Ideas

Updated on April 6, 2016

Going out with your boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife doesn’t always have to cost you an arm and a leg. There are plenty of things you can do together while still saving on money.
My boyfriend and I just spent the past 4 days together and with both of us being students that don’t have a lot of money, thinking of fun things to do together was difficult. There’s only so many movie days you can have before you start going crazy!

So if you’re on a budget but still want to have a good time with your partner, here are some fun things to do together that aren’t going to cost you a limb.

1. Stargazing.
This one is great because it’s free! Drive somewhere that is out of the city, somewhere rural. You’ll see stars that you never knew existed before! The further out you drive, the prettier the view! Take some blankets, maybe a hot chocolate and enjoy God’s beautiful creation together.

2. Blanket Forts.
Who says you’re too old to build a blanket fort?! I’m 22 years old and still love building them! Makes me feel like a little kid again. Build a blanket fort together, crawl inside and watch movies together. Preferably old Disney movies, you’re in a blanket fort, you might as well continue living your childhood with your favourite Disney movies!

3. Go to a park and feed the ducks.
Nope, it’s not just for kids! Going to a nice park/lake and feeding ducks is a super cute date idea and will only cost you 80cents for a loaf of bread! A date that will only cost you 80cents?! I’m in!

4. Scout out a fun cafe, maybe one with live music.
$5 for a cup of coffee and free live music? Heck yeah.

5. A cheap cinema.
Going to the movies is crazy expensive these days! But there are cinemas that are super cheap! You just have to search for them. We came across a cinema that was only $5.50 for a tickets and popcorn and drinks were $4.50 each! That’s crazy cheap compared to other cinemas where tickets can costs $17 & popcorn and drinks could cost another $20! And that’s just for one person! They aren’t very common, but they do exist!

6. Pick up a pizza & watch reruns of your favourite TV show.
You can never go wrong with this one!

7. Watch the sunset.
Drive out to a beach, or a mountain and watch the sunset together.

8. Go on a picnic.
Find a nice park, take a blanket and your favourite snacks, maybe a fun game and have a picnic.

9. Make a fire in the backyard.
I don’t mean set your yard on fire. Grab an outdoor fire pit, light a fire and roast some marshmallows! You can never go wrong.

I saved my favourite till last.

10. Spend time with God together.
This is so important. Spending time seeking God together is crucial for your relationship.
Pray together, worship together, read through a book in the bible together. Or you can just put on worship music and spend time with God individually, but together.

What are some cheap date ideas that you have?
