Finding The Peace Within

Seeking Peace

We all seek Peace within but the peace that we should seek is the peace that passeth all understanding.  Something that no-one can take away from us.  This peace can only come from God.  On the external there are only wars, crimes, selfishness, abuse, fighting among ourselves and a number of negative things.  We are in constant turmoil.  Our lives are sometimes distraught with everything that is happening around us.  Our family life can become chaotic, our work environment can become stressful, our social life can at times be disastrous.  Everyone appears to fail us at some point in time.

Finding The Peace We Seek

If we can spend some time apart from the familiar around us and meditate on God - his presence and his love - we would get a certain measure of the peace we seek. When we reflect on God's goodness and all that he has done for us - we are humbled. John 3:16 states, "For God So Loved the World, that He gave His only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him would not perish, but have Everlasting Life". What Consolation! Our heavenly father is the source of life, wisdom and joy. God has provided everything for us so we can be happy. We have his divine protection and his undying love. Nature itself testifies of God's love - sunshine, rainfall, clean air, the hills and mountains, the seas, all living creatures and in nature itself are messages of hope and comfort.

Our Demanding Lifestyles

We spend so much time throughout our lifetime just trying to acquire possessions and status.  These are all good but sometimes it is to the detriment of our health.  We overextend ourselves.  Today's fast-paced lifestyles are demanding.  Personal disappointments, broken family relationships and job-related stresses are crippling thousands/millions in the world today.  The stress can definitely cripple us.  Our lifestyles and the associated stresses are drastically affecting our health.  We are caught in the rush for material gain.  We need to Let Go and just Let God.  We need to allow that higher power to direct our steps and we need to grow in love - genuine love (agape) not the erotic type.

Our environment, culture, technology are just pushing us, demanding that we go full speed ahead in order to keep up with the times.  Yes, we need to go forward so that we won't be left behind but there are instances when we need to sit back quietly and reflect on our lives.  Relax the mind!

Renewing a Right Spirit Within Us

Are we really enjoying life? Are we at peace with ourselves?  Within ourselves - deep within - is there really peace or chaos?  Are our minds racing - pushing us into thinking that we can become the next millionaire or the next sex symbol in society.  These are personal questions.  We all have dreams and aspirations - but where do they lead?  Are your thoughts pure?  Let us ponder on these things.  At the end of our introspection and quiet time - let us whisper a word of prayer, "Create in me a Clean Heart, O God, and Renew a Right Spirit Within Me" (Ps. 51:10).  PEACE!!

It is always refreshing to find public acknowledgment of God and His goodness! Once we invite Christ to reside in us, inflection (looking inward) will bring us peace because we will find Him there.

You are accurate in saying that only the Lord can give us real peace, a peace that the world cannot understand =)

You are absolutely right about having inner peace. We are all caught up in making more money for our families and social status as well as taking care of #1. But many men and women who have attained all of these things are hardly ever happy and content in their lives. They still feel that something is missing, and you've mentioned that peace can only be found in the Lord, and I completely agree with this. Thank you for sharing such a profound and thought provoking hub-well done! Keep at it. God bless!
