Brides: How To Find the Perfect Hairstyle/Headpiece for the Wedding Day!
Finding the Perfect Hairstyle for the Bride...
A bride's hairstyle is critical to wedding day beauty. It must be perfect! But how do you find the perfect style?
Hairdressers can be a stumbling block since many don't do "up dos", while some don't work with headpieces, while others don't want the stress of working with brides.
The key is to start the search for the perfect hairdresser and hairstyle about six months before the wedding, while your stress levels are under control.
Rules for Finding the Perfect Wedding-Day Hairstyle
Ask recently married friends, relatives and business associates who they used for their hair and if they were pleased, give them a call. Make sure they have your wedding date available before proceeding.
Once you find a hairdresser, it's essential to have a "trial run" to determine the perfect hairstyle. This may take some time.
Don't make any promises to the hairdresser until you determine that they can do your perfect "do". Once done, you can reserve your date with them by leaving a deposit. More about this coming up...
Hair and the Bride...
Once your style is done, look in the mirror:
Do you notice your face first, or your hair? If you notice your hair, the style is overpowering you. Keep your hairstyle simple to maximize the features of your face.
If your face is small, don't choose a large "do", which will make your face look smaller.
Don't choose a trendy hairstyle; it will date your photos. It's always best to go with classic styles.
The Headpiece and the Bride's Hairstyle...
Most brides take their headpiece to their hairdressers and have their hairstyles designed around their headpiece.
But when it came to headpieces and hairstyles, I advised my clients differently.
I told them to go have their hair done in their best, most flattering style and then to come back to my bridal salon. We then selected the hairpiece that best complemented their hairstyle. Without a doubt, this was the best way to select the perfect headpiece for the bride and her hairstyle--and not the other way around.
Reserve the Date With Your Hairdresser...
Once you've found the perfect hairdresser and the perfect style, reserve the date by leaving a deposit.
Get a receipt that puts everything in writing. If other members of your bridal party are to have their hair done, make sure all details, times, and charges are listed on the receipt along with the balance due.
Follow up a few days before the wedding to confirm all details!
