Funny Love Article - Before and After
Oh what a feeling…. Do you remember when you first met your Partner? Everything was blissful and in slow motion. The tender looks, the caring touch, the thoughtful text messages and calls, but after a while, it wasn’t so.
This is a lighthearted article, but happens to be a reality with some couples. I am writing about situations in some relationships – how it used to be (Before) and how it changed in a matter of months or years (After).
Lets start with the Gentlemen.
At work, you say to the Manager, “I can’t wait to get home and spend time with my darling wife”.
You say to the boss “Is there any over-time I can do?”
In those days, in restaurants you would happily go along with her if she chose the most expensive meal on the menu. You’d smile and even ask if she wanted anything more.
You remind her of the price list as she is reading through the menu.
Both of you finish talking on the phone and you say “ok dear. Put the phone down”, she says, “no you put it down”. This happens for a few minutes until you both reluctantly put the phone down.
You put the phone down while she’s in mid-conversation and explain to her later that you thought she had finished talking.
She used to get lovely Birthday gifts from you. Flowers, chocolates, bling–bling, Lingerie, vouchers etc.
Sometimes you buy her a new hoover, kettle or dishwasher as her gift.
When she cooked you a meal and it was burnt a little. You smiled and said it tasted delicious and asked her not to worry about the little burning.
If she cooks and it’s a little burnt, you look at it and say you’ll have something else to eat.
.......and Now the Ladies......
In the evening, the Table is laid out nicely. Food in lovely dishes waiting to be served – and you actually serve it to him with a smile, when he arrives.
He walks in and you say “your food’s in the oven” and continue watching the TV.
If you own the house. You always say to him, “be comfortable dear, this is your home. What’s mine is yours, feel free” etc.
With a straight face, you tell him to keep the toilet seat down as he is not the only one living in the house.
You hear his car pull into the Drive and think to yourself – “My sweet heart is home”.
You hear the same car pull into the Drive and sigh to yourself - “Oh God, He’s home”!
He comes home and you ask him how the day went, while massaging his shoulders etc He smiles and is grateful in his heart that he has such a loving wife.
As soon as he sits down, you tell him all the things that need to be done in the house and remind him of all the things he hasn’t done. He cringes and wonders why he didn’t hang out with a friend, before coming home.
You took pride in how you looked and made sure you always had your hair done nicely.
You no longer make an effort and get upset when he doesn’t pay you compliments or if he innocently looks at another woman who is just walking past, but happens to look gorgeous.
If I have missed out any, please add them to the comments box. Thanks.
