Giving you the key

You own my heart

Crime in givin' it away for free

Not much value in what was me

Closed account went bone dry

The easy way wins, just say goodbye

-----------------------------------------------

Once the beggar, a willing detainee

My heart not present, in absentee

Repeat the mantra, I will not cry

The easy way wins, just say goodbye

-----------------------------------------------

Served a purpose, my crime spree

Kept my heart under lock and key

Beat the others at game of belie

The easy way wins, just say goodbye

-----------------------------------------------

Karma, the bitch, collects her fee

My turn in the game as her payee

My love for you, no, I cannot deny

No easy way now, don't say goodbye

-----------------------------------------------

Let's make a pact, you and me

No cloak and dagger sets us free

For you, my daughter, I would die

Not a way, ever, never goodbye

You are perfect to me - WARNING - adult content

I'll come back and listen to the video :).

I didn't want to wait another moment to tell you how superb this poem is. I love the rhythm, the pace and the rhyme. Just perfect.

I'm glad I put the warning since your sweet little grandson is with you. Thank you so much for your comments, Fay. My hope is that you love the video, too, as much as I do. I found it after I composed my piece and it says, musically perfect, my intent.

Always knowing the bond of family is stronger than that of love. A very powerful poem, separating yourself from your lovers and strenghening the bond of love of your daughter. Nice.

mccrawford76, thank you for your thoughtful commentary. Although love is the most driving force I know, and the love of a lover...powerful, dynamic, compelling and desired, the love of a parent for their child is in a different category. It is hard to disentangle enough to fully comprehend the overwhelming scope of emotions, much less describe. I know that my love for my daughter envelopes every fiber of my being all day everyday. I believe that is a universal emotion.

Karma is a bitch! However, in due time Karma will pay back your due to thee. Love is the key that opens two different sets of locks, one for your lover, and one for your daughter. Thank you for sharing and thank you for ending your hiatus.

Augustine, Yes, exactly...one key for two sets of locks. I'm greedy and want both kinds of love. Thank you for coming by and the welcome back. Missed you.

That fickle thing we call Karma. I really liked this very much. Haunting, compelling and so much meaning and passion. Lovely.

'Karma, the bitch, collects her fee

Brutal, honest, scathing and sensational. You are fire and ice, you blow my mind with such constructions. I am glad these poems aren't written on parchment. They'll burn a hole! wow!

And I've only just begun. You give me the impetus to forge on, sword in hand! I've been holding back, but it sounds like I needn't. Thank you for giving me more courage than I knew I had.

... well my dear Amy the writing Gods gave you the 'key' a long time ago and for me it was when I first read you over 2 years ago at the Hub.

You have the heart of a poetic sage and mind of an intrepid cultural and sociological explorer, forever restless, in searching for the answers, and often only offering your readers more questions, but here lies the 'key' for you are making us think and feel and debate these issues and concerns which are so very important to you - lake erie time 8:59am with 2nd cup of coffee and some night classical choral music from the baroque era

I am enjoying your walk down the halls of my first steps into poetry, Colin. This journey is so uniquely, contemplatively Colin. You have incredible soul and the heart of a lion, Mister C, and I feel lucky to know it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the loving care you gift to me.
