Heart of Fire

“Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love.”

Rainer Maria Rilke

It made me think of all of the hurtful people out there. The ones who have hurt me. The ones who hurt others. It makes sense that they could be crying out for help. For someone to show them love.

You closed off from me and ran away

Left me dying for another day

You always abandon me like this

Leave me for dead, broken, amiss

I end up feeling lost and betrayed

Your fire shoots clean right through me

And I am spun in endless eternity

A butterfly that has lost it's wings

Freezes to ice and suddenly stings

I am left alone and cold

Protection from vines but they don't hold

Many secrets need to be told

I trusted you my prince

What happened to you dear

Why aren't you here for me

You just want me to fear

Do you not feel love anymore

I am lost

And cannot endear

My beloved disappeared

And I can't find him here

Are you afraid to feel

Sharp teeth

You do not conceal

I can't take it anymore

My heart you just steal
