Companions

To my beautiful feline and fabulous friends

So many times, when life seems cold

I struggle with fears and uncertainty

I find you there,

Beside me always, someone to hold

Someone who will always love me

Who would follow, anywhere

My dearest companion,

Non judging, always with care

Silent consent, constant friend

who will stay 'till the very end.

Time was endless

and so were we,

companions

gliding through velvet patterns

Dark and deep, then

Sleep

Love surrounds two who share

a common goal

We didn't care

Because

Our time is endless,

And, so are we..

companions

sharing moments,

dark and deep

Then....

Sleep

To my friends: I wrote the top part of this little piece just a few days ago, thinking of my beloved feline family and all the comfort, unconditional love, companionship and meaning in this life they've given me. I wrote the second part, "Time was endless..." when I was 16, emersed in the wonder of life, living in the San Francisco Bay Area as a teenager during the '60's and the Hippie era...which was a BIG enfluence in my l ife at the time (and probably, still)..it came about after a night in the city with friends.....and the wonder of it all; having innocent, wide open eyes experiencing everything new and uncomplicated. However, it could also describe the nights with my sweet kitties in my arms and the serenity they give me...you animal lovers out there know how wonderful this is; how healing and soothing. Love, Kathy

This is beautiful. So much like Ari and me. We are so close, he understands everything and if I have a bad day, he's right there leaning on me. Purring. Telling me he loves me anyway.

Hi Robertsloan..I started this one as a tribute to my relationship(s) with my very loved kitties...and then added a little poem (starts w/'the time was endless...') that I wrote as a teenager...the two just seemed to have similar feelings. I LOVE my cat companions so much..they have been my closest friends for a very long time. thank you for your comment...and your love for Ari and stories are part of what makes you wonderful.

Reminds me of me and MacGregor, me and Leo, me and Kutya, me and every faithful, beautiful, sweet-faced critter companion I have shared life with. Beautiful, heartfelt, recognizable piece that all animal lovers understand, Kathy. Love it and your sweet heart.

Oh, Lucky Cat, this is absolutely beautiful. I've made attempts at describing my relationships w/my cats (esp. Gator, my dearest), and no way could I have said it as well.Bookmarking to go w/quotes/stories/etc. Thank you so much

I have never had a cat for a pet, yet when they're around, they always curl up around my legs. I guess they like me. Interesting behavior. Thank you for sharing.

Amy, you love your canine companions so much. Through your writing, it is clear that they are as much a part of your life as my kitties are...and, of course, we share this love with all animals, too. Teylina, I rememaber reading about Gator and "what would the ASPCA say?" Very good hub and funny and true. Can't let go, sometimes. AA Z...you should have a kitty in your life..."try it, you'll like it"...truly. Very comforting animals. Chatkath..we're in the same boat, and it's sinking!!! Ha! Of course, not really...the picture in one hub, in particular, says it all...a picture is worth 1000 words! Most definitely!

Aren't our feline friends just the best. Some people just don't get how great cats can be. I feel sorry for them :) They are really missing out on a different kind of unconditional love. Great write!

Lucky Cats~~

I feel as though you are a sweet onion... with every lovely piece of yours that I read, I feel that I am unpeeling another layer of you. I thank you for sharing so much of yourself, your photography is exquisite and I had no idea that you could write such powerful poetry, especially on one of my favorite subjects. I adore the blend of your past experience with your current love of your kitties...very profound.

Voted UP, AWESOME & BEAUTIFUL!

A revelation of love that warms the spirit like a comfy blanket. A kitten in the arms; brings forth the fair one's charms; and journeys to dreamland; where tranquil realms lay near at hand.

Thank you, ahorseback! Well, I have to tell you that my father, when living w/me the last years of his life, fell in love with two of my cats...."PM," and "Gray." When he passed away, I brought his ashes home....when the first of those two kitties passed, I buried my father's ashes w/her....and then, when the second kitty died, she was placed right next to them...some might think strange or weird...I KNEW how he loved them both and that it is purrrrfectly A-ok! Thank you for the comment and visit.
