My Love: While We Are Apart Be Faithful

I had a friend when I was seven;

One day she came to my house crying;

Her soldier father just came home after a long time that he was absent;

That night he beat his wife black and blue;

Because she had an affair with a younger man;

Whereas, the wife wanted a separation;

She accused him of having a mistress himself;

From this story of my friend about her parents;

My young mind had come to a conclusion;

That marriage will go wrong and life would be sad when the spouses are apart for a long time hence cheating on one another;

On the other hand My Dad was a missionary who was always away from home for six months at a time;

But there was no issue of spousal betrayal between my Mom and Dad that I knew of in my childhood;

We siblings grew up happily in our happy family setting;

My Mom says that faithfulness is a virtue that begets love and happiness in the family;

When I married the first time;

My husband was always away for a long time due to the nature of his business;

At first I heard nothing about what he was doing being away;

In my case, I just go to work every day and enjoy doing it;

Until one day I realized that he was not being faithful to me;

Everything seemed perfect in our life as a family;

But when unfaithfulness creeps in;

Then it’s time to move on;

While faithfulness begets love, happiness and unity;

Unfaithfulness results to separation, broken hearts and broken lives;

Many people I had talked to these days agree that it’s seldom if not impossible to find a married man who is away from his wife for a long time and would not cheat;

Cheating could be anywhere from virtual to actual sex affairs;

And worse, emotional affairs as well;

Everybody would attest that the traditional faithfulness between spouses had long been obsolete;

This assumption breaks my heart;

My Love, you had assured me of your faithfulness and I want to believe you;

I want a happy marriage;

My Love I want our marriage to be happy in the traditional way;

Complete happiness in marriage and in life as a whole could only be enjoyed purely by virtuous spouses.

Happiness and Blessings are a gift and reward to those who are faithful to the end;
