October & april [ the rasmus ft Annet Olzon ]

Love must be as much a light, as it is a flame. ~Henry David Thoreau

Introduction:

Love is the force that transforms and improves the Soul of the World.

Paulo Coelho

Throughout our journey on this land we have been taught that love conquers all; the wavering heart, the pain, and above all Love mends the broken heart. It also brings warmth to the cold heart and binds the dark and light in a tight knot that withstands time. And so our parents have passed on to us the belief that love binds two souls as one. Thus, their hearts beat as one , therefore becoming one entity : breathing as one, living for each other and always drinking from the tokens of love. Love has no desire but to fulfill itself.  To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.  To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving.  ~Kahlil Gibran

Sometimes love is the sweetest thing ever, yet on many occasions  it can be the worse pain one person can go through especially when a person is left alone, without the person he trusts

The colliding worlds:

Once I read the lyrics I had a feeling this was going to be hard to interpret yet I found the beautiful colliding worlds brought by love together interesting.

*April was sweet and warm for the cold world of October. To him, she was full of life and fire which at some point was supposed to cure his cold heart and bring life back to his dark world. She shined so bright for his heart thus breaking through the snow around his heart for a short while and giving him a glimpse of light which his heart has yearned for. She made his heart beat so fast and drowned in love. It was such a great emotion that April thought at some point she will be able to mend his wounds.

It was like light trying to overtake the darkness. Breaking the chains around his heart and becoming part of his world April thought this would do the job. She thought love would prosper and she believed they would live happily ever after.

Like the stories we read about love’s colliding worlds which mostly end with happy endings, April believed that this was also Written for them. Her fire was supposed to break through the darkness that had formed around his beating heart, yet did that happen? Was April able to mend his wounds and bring light to his dark world? Was April able to make their love last thus drowning both of them in the tokens of love? Or was love bound to kill?

On the other hand, October has harsh and cold just like the raging dragon ready to destroy the world just to cast his shadow onto the world. He was the dark’s master callous and hardcore. he was the destroyer, the dark Knight who didn't need to be saved. His heart was so distant from April’s, miles away. He was her opposite yet his coldcore put out her eternal and internal fire.

Darkness surrounded October’s Heart and April tried to melt the cold-core that surrounded his heart for long. He was dark and she was light and both like yin and Yang were supposed to bring balance. But in the end, the dark took over the light and broke the little fragile heart that used to give birth to light and balance to October’s world. His world was too insensitive for her to take and though she tried to find balance, it all back fired. Unlike the stories we read, were love brings balance, October’s darkness prevailed and destroyed April’s world, thus, poisoning her as well as their love. Their love was never meant to prosper. In the unfair end, april was the soldier who lost his life. In the process of trying to save October she lost herself and got burned in the process. The poison cast by October in to her veins had to take her world and ruin it. LOVE WAS BOUDN TO KILL
World apart, both April and October stood on the edge of an endless pit justs taring at each other. The poison flowed through both their hearts. And so, October’s harshness was too sturdy for April’s fragile warmth. Thus love was like poison drowning the heart and killing the love. Ah me! love can not be cured by herbs.  ~Ovid

Like loaded guns, their love had to fire back at them. And in the end, April was the one to get shattered like a fragile crystal glass she was the one who lost this war. The pain was too rigid; it poisoned  and shattered her in the process. She was the sacrificial pawn and had to be discarded and thrown off the battle field. And though they were craving to intertwine, love was bound to kill. Their worlds were meant to collide and one had to be destroyed in the end.

She was like April skies
Sunrise in her eyes
Child of light, shining star, fire in her heart
Brightest day, melting snow
Breaking through the chill
October and April.

He was like frozen sky
In October night
Darkest cloud, endless storm
Raining from his heart
Coldest month, deepest too
Tearing down the spring
October and April

Like hate and love
World's apart
This fatal love was like poison right from the start
Like light and dark
World's apart
This fatal love was like poison right from the start

We were like loaded guns
Sacrificed our lives
We were like love undone
Craving to entwine
Fatal touch
Final thrill
Love was bound to kill
October and April

Like hate and love
World's apart
This fatal love was like poison right from the start
Like light and dark
World's apart
This fatal love was like poison right from the start

Hate and love
World's apart
This fatal love was like poison right from the start
Light and dark
World's apart
This fatal love was like poison right from the start

October and April
October and April
October and April

There is an underlying theme in this poetry which is what all lyrical music has become in modern times. This is the theme of the selfless versus the selfish lover. Some souls never learn generosity and they dominate, exploit and destroy the generous with the illusion of love. The spirit of another who is trusting and selfless is consumed and destroyed. Cheers
