The Royal Wedding of HRH Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton will be on April 29, 2011.

And the world remembers that the wedding of his parents was the wedding of the century. Yet just how unhappily it turned out. Everyone must be wishing that the fate of this particular wedding is much happier for the couple involved.

The Groom - Prince William

Prince William is the first son of Crown Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana. He was born on June 21, 1982 at Paddington, London. His baptism took place on August 4, 1982 in the Music Room of Buckingham Palace.

He graduated in Geography from St. Andrews University in Scotland before he followed family tradition and joined the Royal Academy Sandhurst. He is a Lieutenant in the Household Cavalry and is also training to be a search and rescue Pilot with the Royal Air Force.

He also is associated with a number of charitable causes as was his mother, Princess Diana. He is always seen portraying a calm and dignified appearance unlike his younger brother Prince Harry who is notorious for his pranks.

The Bride - Kate Middleton

Catherine "Kate" Middleton has been the more or less steady companion and girl friend to Prince William for some time now. They met at St. Andrews University in Scotland when they were studying.

Kate was born on January 9, 1982 at Berkshire in the south of England. Her parents Michael and Carole Middleton have three children of which Kate is the eldest. Her father Michael Middleton was an airline officer. He then quit to start a successful mail order business that sells party paraphernalia for kids parties.

Catherine studied at the Marlborough College and then went on to a degree in History in Art at St. Andrews. She worked formerly at Jigsaw, a woman’s fashion chain , as an accessories buyer till 2007. After she quit she has been helping with her parent's business.

The Engagement

The couple finally got engaged after a lot of speculation last year in October when the family took a holiday to Kenya. The formal announcement of the engagement was made on November 17, 2010.

Prince William used his mother, Princess Diana's ring as the engagement ring. The diamond and sapphire ring had also been Princess Diana's engagement ring and William said that it was his way of including his mother in the event.

The Wedding

The world will beat a road to his door if they could be invited to the wedding, but most of us will have to be content with watching the television coverage. The wedding details were kept a secret till January 5, 2011, when the Prince of Wales announced them.

The official wedding date is to be April 29, 2011. It will also be a public holiday across UK as a national celebration. After all how often does the direct descendant of the ruling monarch marry?!

The venue will be Westminster Abbey, London. The church is associated with a lot of royal history. Several Kings and Queens were crowned here, royal weddings of the Queen and Queen Mother, took place here. It was also the venue for Princess Diana’s funeral in 1997.

The wedding service will start at 11:00 am to be conducted by the Dean of Westminster while the Archbishop of Canterbury will marry the couple. The couple will have a procession in carriage to Buckingham Palace where a reception is waiting hosted by the Queen.

Later in the evening, the Prince of Wales will have a private dinner for the couple, with their family, and close friends. It would be a necessity to unwind after such a long, taxing and momentous day.

Best Wishes From Around The World

I am sure that I am not alone when I say that I wish the couple have a really happy married life. To date I can not forget the small boy who laid white lilies on his mother's funeral and I wish that after all that he been through, he may now have nothing but joy all his life.

Lovely hub. Beautifully written. I'm looking forward to this wedding myself. I would love to be there. I think it's fabulous that he gave Kate his mother's ring.

This is such a lovely background on the royal couple. I, too, along with my daughter, will be glued to the TV, as we were for Diana and Charles's wedding. (I was glued, my daughter was only a baby at the time!)

I add our wishes here, my daughter's and mine, for a long and good life for Kate and Wills.

I was just in school when Lady Di and Prince Charles married and wanted to ride in the carriages too! It was such fun seeing the whole wedding. I remember how Lady Di had her hand pressed to her tummy when she was saying the vows. It must have been some time for her.
