Proposal Ideas

Updated on April 4, 2011

You have finally decided to pop the question, and you think this one is right for you. You may be even a little nervous. You may be thinking of ideas on how you are going to do this, and when. One of the biggest things you want to do when you are proposing is make it a surprise. Women can sniff out hints from nowhere, so be very careful of what you say.

Before you ask her to marry you, find out what her ring size is

How to tell what size ring she wears:

Before you propose you are going to have to know what her ring size it.

The average woman wears a size seven on their wedding ring finger.

You can get her ring size without her knowing. You can do this by buying a little corny ring from a machine, and trying it on her wedding finger. Do this in a joking matter. You will need to retrieve the ring back. Though so you can compare it to your ring size chart. When you do this, you can act like you enjoy the ring (in a goofy way), and keep it on your pinky for later.

Compare it with your ring chart. Presto, you have her ring size.

List of Proposal Ideas

Below is a list of romantic ideas for popping that question:

*****On a hot air balloon ride- get to the top, pop a bottle of wine

*****In a newspaper ad- place it in the advertisements, and ask her to find an ad for you about something, make sure she looks in the section you put the proposal in.

*****In a singing telegram- just hide behind the person, and be prepared to jump in

*****On a romantic ride in a horse drawn buggy

*****Under the moon light in a canoe on the river. In some rivers, you can rent a canoe, or a boat.

*****Try a tandem jump (skydive with an experienced diver), have it arranged to ask in the plane before jumping)

*****On a picnic for two- put a ring in between two pieces of bread, with meat and dressings separate. Have her open the bread to start preparing the sandwich, and presto, she sees the ring.

*****On a helicopter ride across the Grand Canyon (or another place of your choosing)

This list is a small list that can help you kick start your creative romantic energy.  You can use these proposal ideas, or you can use your own. If you decide to propose, make sure it is creative, romantic, and fun. This is something that you both will cherish, and remember for the rest of your life. Make whatever you decide to do count.  Being in love is sweet, and it’s something you should cherish.

Make sure your romance does not end with this proposal. A couple should continue working together to keep romance alive through the years. Remind each other why you fell in love in the first place. Respect is another big thing that will keep your relationship alive in the long haul. If you use communication, respect, and remind each other you love each other by doing little sweet things, your relationship will be strong for many, many years.

Remember, be unique with romance. One of the best things you can do for a relationship later is try to never fall into the same routine.  This can be difficult, because people are creatures of habit.

The trick is, to make sure those habits are good habits. Come up with new romantic ideas on a regular basis. Congratulations on making your decision to propose, and best of luck.
