The Pickup Line

"Girl, I know your feet hurt because you've been runnin' through my mind all day!"

"If I could rearrange the alphabet, I would put U and I together."

"Heaven must be missing an angel because I see one right in front of me."

"If I told you had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me?"

"You dropped something. What? Our conversation. Let's pick it up from here."

Ladies, I know you've heard those lines many times, or have heard similar lines like this when men try to talk to you. You hear them everywhere you go, whether you're at the gas station, the bar, the grocery store, at church or even at the library. As someone who's been a library branch clerk for 10 years, I've observed many of my female co-workers get hit on by the male patrons and male patrons hit on fellow female patrons. Some of lines were cool and smooth, but most of those them were nasty, perverted and sometimes downright creepy. I bet if you had a nickel for every guy that hit on you, you would be rich by now. If I had a nickel for every line I heard those guys say, I'd be rich by now.

This is one of the most common introductions to male-female relationships: the pickup line. The pickup line has been around since the beginning of time. The pickup line is universal, and used by men of all races, ages, religions and socioeconomic backgrounds. I even think Adam used a pickup line or two on Eve. It displays guys using their clever vernacular skills and witty charm to pursue and woo a potential mate. I've had some of my own hits and misses with the pickup line. But, most of the time it's not what you say; it's how you say it. It's the main factor between you getting the number and the date and getting the silent treatment or worse. Most men think they can speak random lines, the female will be turned on and they'll sweep her off her feet.

That's not going to work because women have lots of lines spoken to them by hundreds of guys per week. So, most women can spot if you're being genuine in getting to know them, or you're just lusting after them just to get them into bed. If you're gonna use a pickup line, make sure you come off as confident, sincere and put some passion into the line as if it was meant for only her. The line will be redundant if you said the same line to 20 different women. And, with the lines that you use be original, clever and creative so you can separate yourself from the rest of the pact. Trying to get a potential mate is like going on a job interview, you have to have everything together: hygiene, breath, thoughts, intentions and qualifications. You have to prove to that person that you're capable of doing the job. What makes you stand out from the other candidates that you're competing with for the position. Plus, you have to be focused on winning her over. If you don't prove it to that person, you will be denied and kicked out the door.

But, the best pickup line of all is to strike up a conversation with a woman. Just be yourself because if you're honest with her upfront, that will go a long way. She will feel that you're not putting up a front or trying to hide anything from her. Also, talk to her like she's a regular person because she has enough jackasses hitting on her with pickup lines, she doesn't need anymore. You get to know what her true intentions are that way avoid ending up with a fatal attraction. I've had a lot more success with this approach. You listen to what she really has to say, which is not one of our biggest strengths, men. This is the best way to find out if she's a potential mate or not. Or, if you two will end hook up as lovers or you just stay in the friend zone. Fellas, you'll always earn some extra cool points for taking the time to listen to her because she'll feel that you tried to find out what's on her mind, not just what's underneath her clothes. Not only you'll get a first date using this approach, you'll get many dates to come.

Looks like you have learnt how to create a hub. Good Work. Although you probably should have created two separate hubs one called "The Pick Up Line" and one called "Happy belated birthday, MJ". You see each hub would attract its own set of advertisements from adsense and hubpages finds related hubs on the side of this hub to link to. With each idea being published in a separate hub then these things can be treated seperately and not confuse each element. It all works to better provide ads which you can start earning from, assuming you have set up an adsense account. Good Luck with more of your hubs.
