Question for the ladies

Bit of back ground to start with

I’m been divorce now for some time now and been out of the dating game for some time, gave it up as a bad job. I’ve been on those dating site and in my view, waste of my time, I can tell you. All one wants in life to love someone and the same back, someone to come home to, someone to have a chat to, and someone to..... you get the picture. No I’ve never been lucky in love, maybe I have two heads which I don’t know about or maybe 3 eyes. Never mind it’s not bothered me that much, and besides I’ve got a costumed to living on my own, but as you know we men are always on the lookout for that nice lady!!

This is where my story begins

I went away for Christmas and had a wonderful time, now whenever I go somewhere I have to make sure that I take my trusty shaver. I have sensitive skin and I’ve used everything under the sun to stop soreness and redding of the skin after I’ve shaved. I came across a shaver that really works for me and had it now for the past 4 years. Like I say I take it everywhere I as I can’t or wouldn’t like to use anything else.

On my return after Christmas I had a few days before going into work and never thought of having a shave as I don’t shave every day. The day came to go back into to work and time for a shave. PANIC, no shaver, wasn’t in my bag, wasn’t in the bathroom, wasn’t anywhere at home. I’d left it where I was staying over Christmas, no problem it would go in the post and I should have it within a few days, but in the mean time I would have to go without having a shave, which sorted me to be honest.

By now I hadn’t had a shave for 4 days and my stubble was looking long and a bit of a mess, but not to worry in a few days my shaver would be here and I would have a shave, no problem. Well as the week wore on and my beard was growing longer people at work kept asking when was I going to shave, “Oh when I get my shaver back” I replied. Before my last shift at work the postman came along with my shaver and I though, stuff it, been to work all week and not shaven so why bother now. I would have a shave when I home or before going out.

Should it stay or should it go?

Well I was in the canteen and a lady college shout to me “Hi sexy man” wow, never been called sexy in my life, okay maybe it was a bit of fooling around on her part or was it the beard, did she like the beard look? I’ve never thought of it before and it was only after wards. Had I been doing it wrong all these years, because a few days later a got a similar comment. I had decided not to have a shave but instead grow a beard after the first comment, never really had one before, and only ever gone without shaving for about 4 days at the most. So do women like a man with a beard is my big question. Okay I guess it down to personal taste as with most things in life

I’ve enclosed 2 photos, maybe not the best photos in the world, one with and one without a beard, which do you like the most. Thank you for taking your time to read this

For a bit of fun

Update

It’s been some months since I posted this and I think it’s time for an update. First I would like to thank everyone who voted in the poll, interesting to see the voting. Most will be pleased to find that I did indeed shave off my beard mainly because it was getting warm and started to itch. It was interesting while I had my beard in the way people reacted towards me, people who wouldn’t normally speak did, which I did find really strange. I did notice also that more ladies chatted to me this again was interesting. It seems at the moment in the UK that beards are in fashion and maybe I should re-grow my beard. No I don’t think I will, well not the time being, I did enjoy having a beard, but only in winter and not during the summer months. What did surprise me was how long it took to dry after showering and how wet it felt when I was out walking on cold days.

Once again thank you for viewing my work

Women often associate beards with both maturity and ruggedness. Both things that can work in your favor in the world of dating and relating.

Plus, your energy changed in the second photo. Notice how you farther away from the cam in the first photo, and your smile wasn't genuine. In the second photo, you carry yourself different. Dress different. You look more certain, and a bit more james dean-ish.

I'd keep it for a while. =)

BizGenGirl has some great points!! Maybe you should listen to her. I only voted "no" because I prefer a clean shaven look. I guess that's what happens when you've been employed by the United States Army. I'm a big fan of very short hair and smooth faces. :o)

Thank you Meesa78, It won't last long, I don't think before it gets taken off :)

I think you should do what you feel. If you feel good with your new look - just simple leave it :) Propably everybody was just asking about this shaving because it was big change and everybody just to you without beard. Every woman likes something different, some like beards, some just clean shaven look like me. But if you meet somebody intresting I think she will like you for you character, with or without beard. Remember that image and style you always can change - how you feel :)

I like a small beard, kept rather close to the face. It has to go along with a mustache. I do not like a beard that leaves the face and travels down the neck, but I do love whiskers! Very much! Maybe it is time for a new look?

I tried the Internet dating scene. Women can do this only VERY cautiously. Bunch of scammers that aren't too hard to find out.

Did have one really nice relationship for 6 years, then admit that I blew it.

I guess I don't like being alone, yet don'g like being used or being bossed around!

1 hit out of 10 on Internet dating.

prefer the pic without - but then that's a personal preference. Wear it the way you feel best. As for internet dating .... some people seem to be lucky and others not so much. I have been single for a long time and honestly unless I stumble over someone with whom I share lots of interests I think I'm doing OK flying solo (apart from the children of course)

Many people in the cold high altitude Rocky Mountain region, US, "winterize".

The beard begins as cold weather hits and looks messy AT FIRST. Nice later on. Upon spring, it gets shaved off.

Other men have week chins and that added fuller look makes them look much better. I alsmost did not recocnise one of these types who shaved it off. He appeared a weak-chinned wimp!

I think your beard suits you, but trimming it can use substantially more time than shaving.
