Easy Romantic Massage Techniques for Beginners: The Healing Powers of Massage
Romantic massage is beneficial to both partners within a relationship
Romantic massage is something that most of us would love to do, but how many of us actually KNOW how to do it? Sure, it does seem easy enough. A massage is a massage some people would say. But a romantic massage is much more than just your average massage. A massage is the perfect way of relieving your partners stress after a long day, which not only makes them feel good, but will make you feel good doing it for them. It also is a very good for bringing you closer to your partner, and can help spice things up for both of you.
The human touch can mean many things depending on how you use it. Romantic massage is all about showing an expression of love with your hands, and that is what makes it so special and unique. Many couples will throw each other a simple I love you while passing through the door to go to work, or right before bed. But how great would it be to express that love in a different way? Through romantic massage you can send the message of love without ever opening your mouth, and that can leave a very special and lasting impression on you and your partner.
Set the mood
Before embarking on your journey into the world of romantic massage, you want to have a plan. That is why it is called a romantic massage. It has to be romantic! You can set the mood easily in your own home, which is convenient and doesn't require much of anything but your time.
Soft lighting is always a must have for something like this. The soft dancing flames of candles are perfect for creating a romantic mood, and should be your first step when creating your massage area. All you need are some candles with soft scents, or you could even purchase actual massage candles. These are a nice little touch because as they melt, they turn into a pleasantly warm massage oil.
Light music is also a magnificent idea, but make sure that it fits the mood that you are trying to create, and keep it turned down low. A massage is all about being gentle and slow, so your choice of music must fit in well with that.
Make sure to also choose an area of the house that will provide superior comfort. The bedroom is ideal, because a bed is soft, and large enough to accommodate both of you comfortably. However, if you are making the massage a routine, it is not a bad idea to switch it up once in awhile and move the activity elsewhere. Just remember the two C's - comfort and creativity.
Before starting, make sure you have a couple of towels handy if you are using massage oil. This will keep messes at bay, and you will have something to wipe your hands on if needed. Also thrown down an old sheet before starting, so you won't have to worry about ruining any expensive bedding.
You want your partner to be comfortable in all aspects. So prepare in advance and make sure they aren't too cold or hot, have eaten, aren't thirsty, and don't need to use the restroom. If you are using any sorts of tools (feathers, silk, etc.) make sure you have them within reach, because you don't want to have to interrupt the massage to go fetch the items you intended to use.
A nice start is actually to give your partner a head massage. Often times people never even think of massaging the head, but it really is a great way to get them relaxed and in the mood. Begin by taking your fingers gently over the top of the head, using circular motions like you would when washing your hair. Allow your fingers to flow down towards the back and sides of the head, massaging the skull with firm but gentle pressure.
Move down to the forehead, and using your thumbs, begin stroking from the center of the forehead and outwards. Next you can gently roll their head from one shoulder to the next, in a soft motion and hold for a couple seconds on each side.
Now have your partner lay down on their stomach. Position yourself so that you are straddling the back of your partners legs, making sure that you are able to comfortably reach up to the neck and shoulder area. Start by massaging the shoulders, using gentle pulling and kneading motions. Some actually prefer more pressure, so it doesn't hurt to ask along the way. Continue up towards the neck, and use the pads of your thumbs to massage the skin in a circular motion.
Continue on to your partners back, letting your fingers glide in a continues motion along the spine and to the sides of the body. If you feel any knotted muscles, gently knead the skin until the knot dissipates. Massage the arms in the same manner, and don't forget about the fingers and palms. Slowly run your own fingers up and down the length of each of your partners fingers.
Remember, this is a full body romantic massage, and as such, make sure you remember the buttocks area. There are many muscles there, and most people have probably never experienced a massage in that area, so that will make the experience even more special. Be sure to massage both sides simultaneously.
Continue on to the legs, starting with the thighs and down to the toes. Take one foot in your hand and massage the sole of the foot with your thumbs, in a circular and upward sweeping motion. Do the same with the other foot.
Have your partner roll onto his or her back, and continue the massage on the front part of the body. This is the more sensual part of the massage, which is why it is better to massage the back side first. Do much of the same as you did on the back side, but don't be scared to experiment a bit. Continue asking your partner if your using enough pressure, and make sure they are comfortable at all times.
You should feel a very close bond to each other once the massage is all finished, and hopefully it will have been a sort of foreplay for both of you. Of all ways to express love to another person, a massage is the most sensual and erotic way of doing it.
