Single? I Think Not

You are NOT single

I am tired of all these people who have stated that they are SINGLE when in fact they are DIVORCED!

There are usually 5 categories that you can place yourself into-single, married, separated, divorced or widowed. Single denotes unmarried-it does not denote being divorced.

Yet in today's society, it seems that when someone gets a divorce from their spouse, then they claim singleness status. What really chaps my hide is when there are children or a child involved.

It also means that the other parent, after divorce, doesn't influence the child's life, if the divorced person claims singleness. I know personally that my husband was and still is involved with his son. However, the boy's mother wants to claim that she is single and has raised their son ALONE!!! NOT TRUE!!!

This is a highly personal theme on my part. But in the legal sense, if you are married and then divorced, you cannot claim singleness. It's like once you lose your virginity, you can never be a virgin again!

I am probably going to be getting some tee-offed people stating that I'm old fashioned and that it doesn't matter what the title is. If that's the case, then why not claim being divorced? It's not like there's the social stigma that used to be equated with a divorce-that "decent" people didn't do that.

Quite true..however it could have been better if a long article been written...instead of a short narrative..

Thanks abhijeet4800. I know it is short and I may add to it later but wanted to get that off my chest for the present!
