Religious differences can bring problems to a marriage and it can mean a big difference in beliefs when it comes to raising a family, this separation in faith causes many divorces as well. There are many causes that lead to a high divorce rate.

Financial Trouble

Financial issues are one of the leading causes in deteriorating marital relationships. The financial problem doesn’t necessarily depend on the income of a couple, but rather their differences in spending habits. For example one person might feel it is necessary to open a savings account or a retirement fund, where the other party believes in living in the moment and buying what you want when you want it. Another example is when one person wants to make some improvements around the house and wants to start right away, whereas the other person wants to wait until their paycheck comes in to make sure they have the money to cover it. Situations like this happen daily and can lead to arguments which can last for years. Statistically, financial issues are the primary reason for upwards of 90 percent of divorce cases in America.

Infidelity

Infidelity brings a lot of pain and hurt into a relationship and usually ends in a divorce. Cheating is one of the main causes that lead to a divorce. The majority of marriages do not ever bounce back into recovery after one or both spouses have cheated.

Statistics show that 57% of men admitted to having committed infidelity in a relationship, and 54% of woman have admitted to committing infidelity in a relationship. A cause that was documented on why women cheat is because women begin to feel bored, unhappy, and not satisfied with their marriage; their sex drive decreases and it feels more like a chore to them rather than a pleasure. They begin looking for something else and feel that something is missing which causes them to look elsewhere. Men’s statistics show that 48% of men say that they are emotionally dissatisfied. Men will not feel comfortable asking for praise from their spouse and their hard work usually gets bypassed and they feel that they are not appreciated.

Men feel more comfortable cheating because it seems to be more acceptable in today’s society. Women on the other hand usually initiate the divorce and her spouse may have no idea that she was even cheating because a lot of men believe that their woman would never do that to them.

Abusive Relationships

Another reason a lot of marriages end is due to physical, sexual or emotional abuse. This type of abuse can be caused by either party involved. Degrading verbal comments play a huge role in emotional abuse. Making derogatory remarks about someone or making them feel low can really affect a person’s mindset especially if it is coming from a person that the victim loves. Physical violence can cause irrepairable physical and emotional pain. If one person is very controlling it may lead to using violence to stay in control. Sexual abuse is also a significant issue in marriages. Marital rape can occur in an instance that the male feels it is his wife’s duty to please him and she is just not up to it. Or perhaps the woman feels that her husband is a selfish lover and she is sexually dissatisfied with his performance.

Substance Abuse

Alcohol or other like substances can create a large amount of problems, and it can cause marriages to come to an end. The majority of domestic abuse cases have alcohol involved. Alcohol can impair ones judgment, causing them to do things that a sober person wouldn't normally do. Drugs also can ruin a person’s train of thought and all logical thinking can disappear. A person who is addicted to a substance can get to a level where satisfying their cravings becomes their top priority and they end up putting their spouse and family below their own personal needs. An addict may also spend exorbitant amounts of money on fueling their problem. This can lead to significant financial problems. Eventually the marriage can break down because love is no longer there.

Alcohol can also lead to a spouse cheating because it affects the brain and it can cause a person to disregard the consequences that will follow. Alcohol can destroy a person’s health and physical appearance, making them unattractive to their spouse causing a lack of interest which can also lead to a divorce. A person who is in a drug dealing lifestyle usually has a group of people that bring in negative energy, which can influence others to do bad things.

Differences in Faith

Religion differences can bring problems to a marriage and it can mean a big difference in beliefs when it comes to raising a family, this separation in faith causes many divorces. Religion, a lot of times begins from upbringing; this makes it very difficult to change faiths. When married couples do not practice the same faith or perhaps one is a devoted believer and the other is not, can sometimes result in an argument or bring feelings of dislike towards each other. Statistically, couples that are of the same faith tend to get married and stay that way.

Lack of Communication

Communication is a highly effective way to build a strong relationship. When communication is lacking, it can cause a married couple to get a divorce. To understand another person, it is best to talk to them and learn how they feel. It is important to talk to others especially a spouse because that builds a connection. When a couple does not communicate, they do not understand each other. Lack of communication can make a couple become distant from each other. Communication can help a couple find a middle ground or a compromise, when a relationship is one sided it can end up in a break up.
