Super Models - X Factor Judge, Cheryl Cole

Updated on February 18, 2013

Ps. May I apologise to readers for most of this article being in Caps. When I published it in 2010, it was in normal case and I don't have the time to type it all out again. The site's changes must have affected it. You will note the last paragraph seems normal. Hope you still enjoy it. Thanks. Elena (Feb 2013)

The Rise and Rise of Cheryl Cole

.

One thing I admire about Cheryl is how much she has achieved in such a short period of time. She is in a successful girl band, but on her own, has become even more successful and I think its only a matter of time before she amicably parts with the band. (It brings back memories of Destiny's Child and Beyonce) From being a contestant on a reality Music Competition Show to being a Judge on a similar show. Would you like to know a bit more about this charming young lady?

The Band - Girls Aloud

Cheryl and Ashley Cole

Cheryl Tweedy is 26, from Newcastle in England. She is a member of the Girl Band - Girls Aloud who were on a TV show called: Popstars: The Rivals (similar to the X Factor and Pop Idol). The band won the series in 2000 and went on to become very successful. They have had about 20 UK top ten singles and won The Best Single at the Brit Awards 2009 for the their single - The Promise. In 2006, she married Ashley Cole - a Chelsea Football Player.

Cheryl has a warm, sincere personality which can be seen in the way she has empathy for the contestants on the live X Factor shows. If someone cries on stage, she'll go on stage and hug them. I remember, a contestant was singing a song from Girls Aloud. She wasn't prepared for the song as it was a second song that Simon Cowell asked her to sing. While singing she forgot the lines and was close to tears. Cheryl went on stage and sang it with her and there was a big roar from the audience. None of the X Factor Judges have ever done that.

X Factor Judges - (L to R) Louis, Dannii, Cheryl, Simon

With such a lovely personality and hardwork, in the space of just a couple of years, Cheryl has been able to:

  • Be very successful with the Girl Band Girls Aloud, amassing a fortune of £25 Million this year.

  • Become a Judge on the British TV Reality Show - The Xfactor. She replaced Sharon Osbourne last year and the catergory assigned to her won - making her the winning Judge. (She mentored Alexandra Burke who won) This year will be her second time as a Judge. The other judges are Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh.

  • She was voted one of the world's 100 sexiest women by FHM Poll in 2008. In 2009, she won the FHM title as the sexiest woman in the world and other similar awards like TV Personality of the year, by Glamour magazine etc. (FHM - For Him Magazine)

  • She is due to release an album this month (Oct 09) - titled 3 Words. The first single with the video has already been released this month. The single is called Fight for Love. (See the full video of the single below)

  • I was watching TV a few days ago, a Loreal Advert came on and guess who was in it? Cheryl Cole - the new face of Loreal and she sure is "worth it".

It hasn't been all a bed of roses for Cheryl; In 2008, Ashley Cole cheated on her on a night out drinking with friends. Very publicised story and a difficult time for Cheryl but, they have worked things out and are still together. Maybe that's why her single is called "fight for love"?

Cheryl Cole appears to possess a wisdom beyond her years. We have to remember she started out at the tender age of 19. The Media now refer to her as " the Nation's New Sweetheart".

.

Update Dec 09

Since writing this Hub in October 09, Cheryl was the Mentor to a few acts in the UK XFactor. One was Joe McElderry. He went on to win the show this weekend, which looked good on Cheryl as an XFactor Judge. The same happened last year - she mentored Alexandra Burke, who also won the show.

Well done, Cheryl.
