There Are Many Faces of Love
Is this the look of love?
The faces of love are all around us. Do you know the look of love? Is it in your eyes or someone else's eyes? Is it in a glance or a touch? How do you recognize the face of love? Do you know it when you see it?
You can't hide the look in your eyes. If something turns you off your eyes will often show disgust. Sometimes just looking at something makes you feel good and others can see it in your eyes. "The eyes are the window to the soul." How many times have you heard that? It is only reasonable then that love will show in your eyes.
What about our dear friend William Shakespeare?
O! let my looks be then the eloquence
And dumb presagers of my speaking breast,
Who plead for love, and look for recompense,
More than that tongue that more hath more express'd.
O! learn to read what silent love hath writ:
To hear with eyes belongs to love's fine wit.
How many times do you just look at someone to know they are in love, maybe not with you, but they're in love. You can see that special light in their eyes or a little twinkle, they just can't hide it.
Expressions of Love
When a young couple is in love why do we call them 'starry eyed'? Because the look of love is in their eyes! Is that the only place you can find the face of love? Of course not, you can see the face of love in a smile or a glance. I'm not talking about a grimace, but a true smile that shows inner peace and happiness. You see it all the time but do you recognize it as love?
An older couple tenderly smiling at each other, maybe it's just a quick glance but the face of love is there. Maybe they're holding hands as they walk, totally oblivious to what's going on around them -- the face of love again. The experience of age doesn't make love diminish but grow. Years and the joys and sorrows we live through teach us not only the meaning of love but it's value in our lives. It's said that more elderly folks are finding love online...guess they don't want to be left out of the Internet generation.
That smile and face of love you see on an elderly woman might be due to the fact that science has discovered sexual satisfaction (for women) increases with age. Hmm, what happens when you hit 80? This could be a totally different face of love!

What about puppy love? Two teenagers in love showing us the face of love in their smiles and giggles. You know what though...puppy love can also be the love a child or even adult has for their puppy. The face of love shows when a child is playing with his puppy. It doesn't just have to be a child, grown-ups turn to mush around puppies and the face of love kind of slips out.
It doesn't necessarily have to be a puppy, it can be a dog, a kitten, a cat, any animal you can cuddle with and love...who'll love you back. Look at anyone with their pet and you'll see the face of love shining back at you.
Of course there's animals loving each other, the face of love you see then is in the way they treat each other or play with each other.
There's love at first sight, love in the air, feeling the love, when a man loves a woman, falling in love, endless love...so very many different ways to describe love and to feel love. There's the love a mother has for her child, the love a baby has for its mother...no one needs to tell you that love is there, the face of love is evident and you can see it in their eyes.
Poems and songs have been written through the ages, all about love and the effect it has on everyone. A universal language that needs no translation because the face of love is always there.
Journey through music;
"Who Wrote the Book of Love?" "Ain't Nobody."
"With or Without You" "Can't Help Falling in Love With You."
"When a Man Loves a Woman" "Love Is a Many Splendered Thing."
"Dream Lover" "Make Love to Me"
"Stop! In the Name of Love" "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling"
"Love Takes Time" "How Am I Supposed to Love Without You?"
And the beat goes on....Look for the faces of love all around you, you'll see it everywhere, everyday and if you're lucky enough, it'll be your face showing the face of love.
I'd love to hear what you think about the faces of love and whether or not you see them around you.
...but most of all I wish you love.
