To My Daughter In Law...Kathleen..On Your Wedding Day
She came to us, I am sure, a bit scared. We can be a bit overwhelming. But she held her own and her gentle spirit made loving her so easy.
To Kathleen..July 2009
The date and time don't really matter that much, because in our minds you've been our daughter in law for a long time now.
When Nana used to phone me, she would say "are they married yet?" and I would laugh and say no. It didn't bother us because we knew that, in typical Kathleen and Scott fashion, you would get around to it, when you got around to it. After all, does the word “conventional” REALLY matter all that much when you look at those small faces who are Josh, Jake and now Luke?
We knew from almost the first time we met you, that you were a keeper.
You bring a calm gentleness to a family where that is sometimes hard to find as evidenced by our legendary trivial pursuit nights.
You are a kind and good person and we know that you love our son. More than that, what can anyone ask?
You won our hearts a long time ago, Kathleen, but just in case you weren't sure, you sealed the deal with each new grandson.
You are an absolutely wonderful mother!
Having been one of those myself, I know one when I see one and you combine love and patience, with firmness and consistency. I know that Josh, Jake and Luke will grow up to be special people because of the special person you are.
You are a great addition to our family. And we love you so very much.
