Beach Wedding Favors

Updated on June 14, 2010

It seems like the predictable favors at weddings for the past twenty years has been Jordan almonds wrapped in tulle, bubbles, and personalized napkins. Surprise your guests with something different for a change! Of course, favors are not a necessity, but it is always nice to say "Thank you" to everyone who came to support the two of you on your wedding day.

Here is a list of my top 7 Favorite Favors with a Beach Wedding Theme! These are all items that your guests will cherish for years to come! Also, these favors can be used as decorations for your reception tables or for marking assigned seats!

1. Sailboat Tea Light Holders

If you are having an evening wedding in a beach setting, place these beautiful sailboat tea light holders at each place setting with a small lit tea light to set the mood. Let guests know that they are invited to each take a tea light holder home with them at the end of the evening as a thank you for attending. That way you save money and time by combining decorations and gifts together.

You can find sailboat candle holders in frosted glass and also in different frosted colors such as blue and pink to match your wedding reception decor. I found these pictured here at Ice Standard.

Flip Flops are fun and humorous gifts!

2. Flip Flop Refrigerator Magnets

These flip flop magnets will make people smile and will be a gift that they will definitely take home and use! They come in bright colors like teal, yellow, and hot pink with small magnets on the back of each. One of the best things about this fun favor is that you can get them for less than $1 each. They will add a touch of color to your wedding decor, and they will definitely make your guests smile.

3. Personalized Sea Shells

What better symbol of a beach wedding than a sea shell? At online vendors like Hanson Ellis, you can find a variety of authentic sea shells that they will personalize with your own message and wedding information. Every guest will cherish this beautiful souvenir. As opposed to the bright whimsical quality of the flip flops above, the sea shells are elegant and beautiful, better for a more formal beach wedding.

4. Sea Shell Keychain or Bottle Opener

I think it is always a good idea to give wedding favors that are practical. Guests appreciate gifts that they can take home and use in their everyday lives. A beautiful Sea shell keychain is a great wedding favor that everyone can use. An inexpensive favor, these can be foundfor as low as 99 cents each.

Another option along the same line is a Sea Shell Bottle opener. They are a bit more expensive at around $3.00 each, but are more universally practical for every household and for both men and women.

5. Mini Beach Pails

These tiny little pails are super cute and can be used for a number of things. You can fill them with sand and then place each guest's placecard inside on top of the sand. You could also fill them up with colorful jellybeans or personalized m&m's and wrap them in tulle or cellophane to hold the candy inside. Another idea would be to put a small tea light inside and use them for lighting and decoration at your reception. The average price for mini beach pails is about $1.50 each.

6. Starfish and Shell Glass Coasters

An elegant choice that will have your guests ooo'ing and ahhh'ing are these frosted glass coasters. They will make beautiful additions to any couple's home, and everytime they use them, they will be reminded of the great times they had at your beach wedding. They are usually sold in sets of 4, but to save money, you could seaparate them and give a set of 2 to each couple in attendance.

7. Personalize Beach Towels

Admittedly, this items is only for those with large budgets, but I think it is a wonderful idea! Buy colorful beach towels for your guests that have your names and the date of the wedding or even the date and location of the wedding. Give them to your guests at the wedding or leave them in their hotel room so they can enjoy them at the beach all weekend! They are pricey, at between $20 and $30 each, but if you are having a small wedding or you have a large budget, your guests will be blown away!

You can find many different colors and designs online or at your local gift shops. i found these very cute examples at the knot's wedding shop online. You can pick any of the shown designs as well as the message and personalization to put on the towel.
