The Smart Bride/Groom Invites Their Boss to Their Wedding...

If you're getting married, chances are that both you, the bride- and groom-to-be, are employed. Unfortunately, many of you don't have that "ultimate" relationship with your employer or immediate supervisor, meaning that you're not best friends---far from it.

For that reason, I get lots of email about the appropriateness of inviting the boss to the wedding. In fact, it's more like, "Do I have to invite my boss to my wedding?"

Besides the Etiquette: Be A Better Person...

Etiquette requires that your immediate supervisor be invited to your wedding. But let's take it one step further. If you don't get along with your boss, they're probably not going to expect an invitation to your wedding. So be the better person, and out of respect for their position, invite them!

The Result: A Win-Win For All!

When your supervisor gets your invitation, he/she will undoubtedly be shocked (considering the relationship), but no one can doubt that they will have respect for you.

Whether they attend your wedding or not, you made the right decision by asking. Your boss will respect you, and when it comes to your wedding and how you handled the situation, they too, will know you did the right thing. They will also be impressed by your good judgement!

It's a win-win for all!
