What is in a 'Thank You'?

Updated on August 14, 2011

'Thank You', how many times a day do we say those words? One time, ten times or more? Two easy little words that sometimes many find hard to say. Two special little words that can bring a smile to someones face, bring one to tears or sometimes one may think that's not enough. Yep you heard me and I am sure each of you know someone like that. Thank you just isn't enough. I find those people to be very sad people. But let's not dwell on them I want to talk about what those two little words can mean to those who appreciate them.
Everyday I get up I say Thank You and all day long I say Thank You. To who you ask? To the powers that be, to God, to the Supreme Being that we all have faith in, to Whoever is listening to my heart and soul. I am grateful for my life, for all the good and not so good. My life has not been a bed of roses but I am thankful for the life I live. For all the ups and downs, for the positives and the negatives, for the happiness and the sadness, for all the good times and the badtimes because all those experiences have made me who I am, they have made me one of a kind, no one else in the world like me. And that goes for each of you too. Think about it, no one has ever experienced what you feel in any given situation, no one else has had your thoughts or knows what it is like to walk in your shoes. They may have a similar experience but what they feel and learn from it is completely different from what you learn and feel. That makes us ALL unique and very special. I wouldn't want to be J. Lo or Madonna or Lady Gaga, NOPE!! I love being me and I may not have all the riches and material things they have but I do consider myelf rich for the many, many blessings that have been showered on me throughout me life. So I do say Thank You everyday, for what was, what is and what will be.
Even as a child I was grateful. As I grew up I love doing things for others. It could have been something very small or something extravagant but it was fun doing it and seeing the reciever enjoy it. That was my thank you, the smile on their face, the hug, the tears, the surprise, I love it. If I could I would do those things anonamously because truly I don't want the glory or recognition, I just want to make someones day, see them smile, see their joy. As a child I often thought of being Santa Claus, hiding the surprises beneath the tree then hiding to see their glee. I worked as a delivery person for a flower shop for about 15 months and I absolutely loved seeing the look on peoples faces when I delivered those beautiful arrangements to their doors. Yes I made decent money but my reward was the joy they showed when suprised with such beauty.
I can be having a rough day and just by changing my train of thought to Thank You always makes me feel better. You should try it just once, I guarantee you will be hooked. I have made a habit of it and am amazed at the difference those two little words can make in my day, have made in my life. The smallest thing a person does for me many times brings me to tears because I am so grateful. The other day my boyfriend washed and actually hung my clothes, I was speechless with gratitude. No one has ever done that for me in my adult life. It's so dull and ordinary you say, but not to me, it MADE MY DAY!! And yes I aboslutely told him THANK YOU!!!
We should never take things for granted and we should say Thank You every single chance we get, even for the everyday mundane things because saying Thank You can make them Heavenly. I was told once to sit done and write all the things I am thankful for, well the list never ended and it showed me all the riches that I do have in my life. I am thankful for all of you readers who read my Hubs, you may not comment all the time but that's okay because you read it and may have took something from it. I am grateful for each you and grateful that maybe, just maybe, I touched your life in some way. i will probably never know that, but I am Thankful that my words touched you. I am so thankful for all my loved ones, near and far, for just given the priviledge of being a part of their lives makes my heart full. They and you have made my life richer by far. Every little thing, a deed done, a word spoke, a touch given, is grounds for a Thank You!!
So what is in a Thank You? A hug, a kiss, a tear, a smile, a touch, a kind word, a good feeling inside, a twinkle in ones eye. This list could go on and on but you can add your own answer to this question. So today I leave you with an assignment, Be Thankful for it ALL. Say 'Thank You' each and everyday. Say Thank You even in the worst of times, it makes the best of times so much sweeter. We should give thanks in all situations, it makes the storms in our lives pass quicker and changes who we are on the inside which makes us better people and that makes for a better world. Thank you all for your awesome Hubs, you have touched my life in so many ways by the words that you write here, by your comments, by just being you!! Now say 'Thank You' to whoever or for whatever, I know you are, I hear it in my heart. Feels good doesn't it? THANK YOU!!!!!!
