I have. Some people just like to talk to take their mind off how unpleasant it is to fly these days. But not everybody.
I sat next to a woman just the other week who initially seemed at least ambivalent when I said to her, "Shall we talk? I've found flights can go more quickly if you strike up a conversation with someone."
Slowly closing the book she’d just opened, she said, "What would you like to discuss?"
"Oh, I don't know, how about the European financial crisis?"
"OK, that could be an interesting topic. But let me ask you a question first.
A horse, a cow and a deer all eat grass. The same stuff. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, a cow dumps flat patties, and a horse produces dried clumps of grass. Why do you think that is?"
“I have no idea”, I admitted.
“Well then”, she asked me, “how is it that you feel qualified to discuss a vexed topic like the European debt crisis, when clearly, you don’t know shit?"
Then she re-opened her book.
Ok, I lied, that happened to someone else, but there are plenty of just as interesting stories, (if you don't get entertained enough by answers to your question) here, http://writeronline.hubpages.com/hub/EnjoyAirTrave...
