I have a recent example for this. Me and my partner went to visit some friends over the weekend. As we had to fly out and my partner has not travelled for a long time I laughed at him wanting to pack all the bits in his hand luggage: soap, toothpaste etc. I giggled and told him that surely my friends would have these every day items at their home and we should travel as light as possible as we did not have any suitcases. You can imagine my look of surprise when at my friends' place there was no shower gel and no toothpaste in the bathroom, this was so odd. I did not have the courage to inquire about it so we just went and bought stuff at the shops. Coming home my partner and I had a good laugh about it and I confirmed that he had been right in the first place. He was really loverly though and said that it was rather unusual that we did not find these items at our friends' place. I always admit my errors and make fun of myself. I am not perfect and having done something silly it is best to just admit it and carry on.
