Why is same-sex marriage such a big deal?

Why the big deal about same-sex marriage? Why does it affect you? How does it affect your marriage? Doesn't Love=Love?  I'm not looking for religious reasons - I'm looking for why it affects YOU personally - that two women, or two men which to marry? Let me know!

you can blame it on religion. 100%. if it wasn't for silly beliefs, freedom to be with who you love, no matter of their sex would be a normal thing.

Even if we didn't believe in the bible we still believe we were created Male & female for a reason & that is the natural way of life .

I think it's actually a non-issue to most people. Unfortunately, the ones who are opposed to it are simply a lot louder about it.

Well, people who are PROsame-sex marriages do have sound reasoning, and people who are CONTRAsame-sex marriage have sound reasoning. When you try hard enough to support or oppose something, you usually do take the time to hone your arguments. Or at least you should, no?

Personally I couldn't care less about who do the people marry (although I draw the line at marrying animals, things like stones and such).  I know quite a few gays and I love them all, because we all are having so much fun when together, and I still seem to surprise them with not abandoning them for the reason of their homosexuality. I can't say I know many lesbians - from the few of them I know, only one of them is not creeping me out; the rest are just pretty nasty to you if you are not attracted to women as well, or if you happen to be a men. But at the same time, it's not their homosexuality what creeps me out - it's they way they behave.

Seriously, if any of my homosexual friends invited me for their wedding, I would be the first one to congratulate them to their marriage! If for no other reason, then because of the amazing dress which is hanging in my wardrobe and I have no opportunity to wear it! big_smile

There was some research done that shows homophobes behave badly because they are actually repressing their homosexuality and resent those who have come to terms with themselves

When people say "it's the natural way of life" - they haven't really researched it much.

Homosexuality is not only present in humans, but is present in many species within the animal kingdom. For example, penguins - there are a pair of male penguins who are raising a chick even!

Now, if you are looking at it from a psychology point of view - there are views that the difference between ourselves and animals is that we have a mind where as animals don't - that is - that we can think for ourselves, form opinions etc - animals don't.  SO, if you look at the animal kingdom and find homosexuality which we've established you can - either its something that comes naturally, or if you are of the religious type - God created them that way - they do not have the excuse of sin, temptation etc etc.

How To Hub - actually, if you think about  - Adam and Eve makes sense - in that you are trying to create a population - they can have reproductive sex.  Errr...but if you look even further - it's all INCEST - which Leviticus forbids as well. Me thinks you between a rock and a hard place with the Adam and Eve arguement.

You also say - we believe we were created male and female - I don't believe that. So, please don't speak on my behalf - I am an adult, I can do that.  So can all the rest of the world - so when you say something like that - "I believe" is the correct term.
