   There are so many ways but the main thing is that it is a special and unique experience for the lady.  For example, some women would like a traditional fancy dinner proposal, others an announcement at the ballgame, others a plane in the sky with the question.  Some would like a hike to a lovely meadow as the scene.  It really depends on the lady, what's meaningful to her and what kind of person she is.  But, as someone who has been proposed to seven times, here's the way you don't ask:  while the lady is driving down the highway, right after a fight, in the living room of the elderly family members you are visiting after they've gone to sleep... or my favorite:  after the woman's been with you three or more years.  I mean, if you don't know if you want to marry her within the first year, then most women know you didn't consider her "the one" by the third year.  Besides, there will be nothing to learn about your "new" wife at that point so you have now cheated your lady (and yourself) of the new wife experience...

   We have celebrated the special promise, we gave each other nearly thirty years ago on the top of the mountain, the highest peak in our country of birth to keep our relationship alive, on the other side of the world, where we live now. We have kayaked to a tiny uninhabited island and there surrounded by noisy sea birds, sleepy seals and playful dolphins we have renewed our promise for another thirty years?...maybe or just how long we live, here or somewhere else....
