I agree this is a factor, one I hadn't thought of. I guess our experiences teach us certain things and we only learn more if we're open to it. Still, I take things into account no matter the source. But that's just my preference. Good answer.
I once told a coworker and good friend his breath smelled bad. He immediately left in a huff without explanation or a retort. We were back on speaking terms about an hour later. Nevertheless, no one ever complained again or gossiped about it.

Too often straightforward women are called female dogs simply for speaking their minds no matter how tactful or realistic they are. I prefer straightforward over being overly nice to the point of lying or backstabbing.
