Why are people so surprised by acts of violence against women by a famous person?
Acts of violence (1 in 3 women will be assaulted or raped in their lifetime) it occurs daily cross socio economic and cross culturally. It should not. Yet, when the violence is perpretatrated by a famous person people are surprised - why?
I think that as general concept we think that famous people has brightening image & will not do such this action.
People believe someone "famous" is (image conscious) and therefore they are more likely to try to avoid doing something that will tarnish their career and cash opportunities.
Secondly there is the belief that the rich and famous can have anyone they want. Therefore if they're not happy with someone they'd simply dump them and hookup with one or more of their adoring admirers.
Our society tends to think that people with fame and money have far more options to deal with problems. We're still surprised when someone famous files bankruptcy!
