Does love still exist in modern society?

Due to overwhelming views of failed relationships on the media, one would have to question if love still exists?

Trends on the media come and go, but yes love exists. I love many people and have been richly blessed with loving family and friends. My husband and I have been together almost 20 years and I am still crazy in love with this man. Don't put a lot of stock in the failed relationships of stars and celebrities; most of these people are about as deep as the pancake on their faces.

Lol! Thank you for the encouragement, it is much needed for me...VERY MUCH SO. And congratulations on your 20 year marriage with your husband.

Love will never cease to exist in this world however modern it might turn. There is nothing wrong in love as it is an emotion which makes your married life worthwhile. It is the way couples deal with their married life that destroys any relationship. Taking your spouse for granted, not spending enough quality time  together and outgrowing each other are the main culprits of failed relationships.

I agree, very good answer. Many people take each other for granted and wonder why their relationship is failing.

By love I take it you mean romantic love, as in 'falling in love' with a person outside of your immediate family? There are other forms of love as you probably know..brotherly love, friendly love, universal love?
Romantic love still exists in this modern society but there's no doubt it is under incredible pressure to maintain its purity. People are still falling in love - through physical and spiritual attraction - but these days man are very quick to fall out of love!!
I think some modern people are intolerant, easily distracted and lacking in depth when it comes to relationships and trying to keep them going. It's all too easy to step out of a relationship instead of attempting to make it work. Love is cheaper than it used to be and seems to be built on material goods, cash flow and business plans!!
Love is also relative. Here in the UK we still have a royal family - good ting bad thing? - and they are unfortunately encouraged to marry people of a similar status, an example of forced love if you like.

I hope love in a pure form will always exist.

I totally agree with you that there is pressure to maintain the purity of relationships. From my experiences, people seem to get distracted easily, as you said, and it seems that people just don't have the respect and patience for each other anymore.

Yes I believe it does. The only problem is that nobody ever seems to find it because we are preoccupied with one night stands etc.. I'm yet to find it but I believe that its still out there, somewhere

I haven't found it either and honestly I lose hope sometimes...but I do know it still exists. And I agree, people are so blinded by instant gratifications and lusts that developing a loving relationship seems nearly impossible.

A lot of doors could be opened pondering. With generalities for an atheist love is only an emotion a behavioral response or instinctual related to hormones and such. So, love does exist. Most of a faith based religion accept and, too, have a reliance on love. So, love does exist. An agnostic is undecided which definition to choose, yet since both offer existence, then love does exist.

Overall and a generality for love not to exist of least human interaction with any other nature - supernatural, human, animal, and material, e.g. I love rocks, would have to cease. Even if the human element of life overall ceases, the interactions for love defined as an atheist being instinctual and hormonal with animals would still exist. So, love does exist.

If there were not any animals or humans plants do have hormones and are instinctual with regard to those with growth. So, again we  may see love exists. The only way I see love would not exist is if life as we define it does not exist. Only a barren rock floating through space would be 'loveless'. May be that is why they hurt so much when one is flung at you smile [Just kidding about]

All you need is love, according to the Beatles.  I tend to agree.

In the U.S. over 2.3 million weddings take place each year. That works out to more than 6000 couples saying "I do" each day!
The number one cause for failed marriages is people (choosing) the wrong mate for themselves!
They allow impulsive connections and happenstance to dictate their relationship choices. Oftentimes they are too immature, have unrealistic expectations, or  have never done any serious introspective thinking to figure out what they want and need in a mate to feel loved. That's the equivalent of going shopping without a list. You're likely to put anything in your cart!
The number two cause for divorce is people getting married for the wrong reasons.
This may range from having an unplanned pregnancy, an ultimatum was given, all of their friends were married, they'd reached an "age goal", someone joined the military and is about to be shipped out...etc
Each of us (chooses) our own friends, lovers, and spouse. That has nothing to do with the media. The goal is to find someone who shares your same values, wants the same things you want for the relationship, naturally agrees with you on how to obtain those things, and last but not least have a mutual depth of love and desire for one another. The role of the media is to grab our attention to get ratings. Good news seldom does either. Therefore their focus is always on the negatives. There are lots of happy loving couples.
Life is a personal journey. Our lives are for the most part the end result of the choices and decisions (we've) made along the way.
