Should transgender people be allowed to use the opposite biological sex bathroom?

With a major company already in the process of making this happen. Would you feel comfortable with an opposite sex going into the washroom ?

Of course not.  If you scroll through this Q&A section, you'll find much has already been discussed on this topic.

Your lack of understanding of what it is to be transgender is evident. As is the evidence you haven't looked through the rest of the Q+A section.

If one is transgender - they should use the restroom that matches their gender identity - eg a transwoman is a woman, a trans man is a man. So are you asking if they should go into the men's as a transwoman?

The thing is - they've been peeing alongside you in the restroom that matches their gender identity all along - and you never noticed. NOTHING has changed, except some law trying to change how it's always been.

You worry about the children or yr women folk? Gender signs have never stopped a predator - they just wait until no one else is around to go in and assault the person.

These laws making trans folk use the bathroom of their birth gender also make it EASIER not HARDER for predators to get in with your girls - transmen (who look more masculine that many men I know) would be forced to use the ladies room as they were born with a vagina.....so men wouldn't need to go to ANY trouble of trying to pass as a trans woman to get it, they'd just say they were a trans man....and were following the law.

These predators we worry about aren't stopped by gender signs but have been sharing the men's
Room with your sons for ever...yet I see no concern for them....

Also Target and Walmart have the same policy in relation to rest rooms - so those boycotting and going to Walmart aren't actually achieving anything. Both have had inculturation policies for years.

But what the HB2 bill hoopla over the trans issue is doing is hiding the rest of the law - removing discrimination protections from housing, employment, healthcare for LGBT folk - essentially stripping human rights.....its disgusting. And those in support of it disgust me - to treat other humans as less than is despiciable.

My answer? They should use the rest room that matches their gender identity - as they always have. THEY JUST WANT TO PEE.

People don't get to pick their gender!  God does. He does not make mistakes.  To deny that is rebellion against God.  Your genitals and DNA tell what gender you are, not YOU!  It's sad that people are encouraging this behavior, not helping.

Yet not all believe in your God. Maybe God has designed trans people as a test - of true compassion for those is difficult circumstances.
Gender and sex are different - not enuf space here.
However, its proven that transwomen have FEMALE brains.

Just because people choose not to believe in God does not mean He doesn't exist.  I do have compassion for these people, but I will not condone this behavior.

Best answer is you are one of them, and objectively or accurately.
It is a deviance from the design norm. And people from other countries shouldn't tell us what we should do here.

Likewise, Lolita, just because you choose to believe in God doesn't mean he exists. Why don't you let people live their lives based on their own beliefs instead of trying to justify your judgment with yours?

NO. It is insane to say that a woman's right to privacy includes abortion but not having a mentally ill biologically intact man often still attracted to women in the bathroom stall next to her.
And it is not just the bathrooms. It is the showers, locker rooms, the girls' dorm, the girls' hotel room on a field trip, the sauna, the women's shelter.

Transgender like the rest of the lgbt is a preference.
If you don't have the equipment to match the gender, then you don't get in.
Some people use the weak idea that signs don't stop predators, so we shouldn't have any signs.
Many people don't stop their vehicles at stop signs, but we need the stop signs to prevent many more accidents. In addition, when you have a sign, backed by a law, then when someone disobeys the laws and there are consequences.

Why do you lock your cars, and homes when they won't really stop criminals? The idea of letting men who think they are women into the women's restroom based on their preference doesn't make any sense. It allows predators to merely say I think I am a transgender.

People from outside the US have different MORES and culture, they shouldn't tell Americans how to live in their own country. Until the laws are changed in the US, public restrooms, and changing areas are biological gender separated.

We don't let women go topless in public here, and that may be discrimination or just good taste.

But for a minority of people that have a mere preference to use the opposite gender's restroom is wrong. The point is how do you tell the confused from the fake?

    1. profile image0
LoliHeyposted 7 years agoin reply to this

Good answer.  There are already reports of creepy men going into the woman's bathroom and starting stuff.  Before the sign was there---now it easier to get in because they have a legal right to be there.  And with the right lawyer, get away with it.

I'm at the point where I'm really just rooting for the option to use either a shared washroom or a private washroom instead of separating men and women at all.  That way if you're comfortable with using the washroom with anyone and everyone regardless of genitalia, then you can go in the shared washroom.  If you're not, you can go in the private washroom.

I think shared washrooms have more benefits than just those to the trans community as well, so, yep.  That's what I want.

Personally, I could not care less if the person peeing in a closed stall next to me has a penis or a vagina or neither or both.

It is when you are in the locker room at work and this person only feels good if naked next to the women, or sexually harassing real women to feel more of a woman than them. And this has happened to me, and HR said it was a spat between two women.

Part of the problem with bathroom laws is they tend to include locker rooms, saunas, barracks, dorms, hospital rooms, summer camp cabins & even women's shelters. Google Christopher Hambrook - "she" raped two women while living in a womens shelter

'look lady'? wow kinda aggressive. Get a grip Aime. Target has changing rooms- another place where women/children are vulnerable. Also in gyms the bathrooms/showers/changing rooms are all in one space and this mandate applies to those areas as well.

Change rooms where everyone is in a private stall just like the bathroom.  So what.

So why can't they be in shower rooms? If it is so perfectly safe for men to share washrooms/changing rooms then they should be able to use the shower rooms. You can't pick or choose which is OK because then you look like a hypocrite.

Furthermore, I expect all of society to get used to seeing me and other unicorns using the bathroom outside and I don't care if it makes you feel unsafe, uncomfortable, or if you don't want to explain to your children why they see someone using the bathroom outside. I am a special, little snowflake who is discriminated against so, therefore, I deserve special privileges in society- no matter what the majority of Americans think or want. A unicorn who has to use the restroom, is a unicorn in danger- 6 total unicorns died last year from using the bathroom- we are in GREAT danger and anyone who can't see that is an ignorant, fear-mongering bigot and should be bullied up on by all SJWs on all social media outlets and then they need to go and check their privelage!

The transgender issue in the headlines these days is yet another step in the effort to completely silence if not eliminate a judeo-christian value system that has served for centuries to preserve the family unit.

No doubt I will be considered a hater, unenlightened, ignorant and bigoted for this remark - but there is such a thing as common sense, morality & decency that should be upheld.

If one has a penis then you use the men's room.

  13. RudeDiaryLady profile image61

I do not think, where you use the bathroom should be a problem or not. If you look like a woman and have a vagina or not; whose to say that you were born a man and block you from entering the bathroom? Even the opposite directions; if you look like a man and you want to use urinals, fine.

The problem comes when those who have not made the complete transformation and still look like a partial man, walking into the woman's bathroom- that is wrong and should be illegal. Regardless of your personal transition or not, you cannot force your beliefs or expectations onto someone else. If a little girl is in the bathroom alone and a half man/half woman walks into the bathroom, she is going to lose her mind. And her Mother would be rightfully upset; your beliefs and desires are completely fine as long as you do not require the whole world to agree.

I have no personal issues with Transgender people. I do not think they should be included in the gay and lesbian community because; if you change your sex and then you still like the same sex, something is wrong; VERY WRONG and you may need some help. There is no way you can be born a man, who believes he should be a women but, you still like women. That is just being greedy and that, within itself is the reason its so hard for gays to have their lives accepted because some where, some one is willing to make a mockery of the lifestyle.
