Ah, heartbreak. It is never the best of things, but, it isn't the worst of things. Heartbreak can usually take time to heal depending on ones emotions. Some run deeper than others and that is perfectly natural. Loss of attachment can strike the deepest emotion and can carry a scar as long as you keep the wound open.
The biggest and hardest thing to cope with in heartbreak is: acceptance. In fact, this is one of the hardest human emotions, however, it can be overcome. You must accept that the decision has been made no matter who made it. You must accept that there is nothing more that can be done at this time on the situation. It is what it is and shall be.
Learn from what happened. Take a step back and don't let your emotions get entangled. There is nothing wrong with having happy memories and reminisce about the time with each other. Take this opportunity to reflect on yourself.
Stay focused on your life. The decision has been made. Don't beat yourself up over it. Continue to do what you do and find other things that are productive (college, hobbies, etc.)
Let your friends know how you feel. Even your family. I am very sure they have all experienced it. Find a way to vent yourself of your emotions. Talk it out, write it out, read it out.
Just know that love is there. If it was meant to be, it will. But, you can't beat yourself up over it. You have to focus on you. You have a life just like they do. Prove to yourself that you can overcome. Know that you can and do it.
