I don't. I don't care what any of the celebrities do, or who they divorce.

I suppose why a lot of people like it, are the same people that like reality tv shows, it's like... a reality celebrity drama show and people can't wait to see what happens next!

I think that people get so bored with their own lives that they start following the lives of others.

Partly, it might be because "celebrity gossip" is what the media puts out and selects "for us," out of proportion with proper news and stories. In turn, we keep sending a strange message back to media sources (via ratings) to tell them to keep putting out garbage, gossip and propaganda. Then we watch more of what is put in front of us, rate it again...and a cycle continues...

Why do we care? Most of us don't care THAT MUCH...it's in front of our faces all the time.

I wrote a Hub about the negative perspectives involving single parenting issues.  I mentioned this same problem.  The media needs to show the good examples of committed men in this country instead of the bad ones.

We hear constantly about the men who cheat. Tiger Woods, Mark Sanford, Jesse James. The more women they have cheated with the more attention they get. This is absurd! The media should be more responsible even if it hurts their ratings! Women are leaders these days because many men have not been the leaders they should be. Their reputation as a group is deteriorating rapidly with the media's help.

I don't know. I don't think the reasoning/emotions behind it would reflect favorably upon us. I don't think the effects of it does us any good either.

Goodness knows! Vicarious living for the unfulfilled? Though how on earth that works escapes me when half of the 'celebs' are fairly vacuous and it is often a struggle to nail exactly what they are supposed to be famous for?

To be honest I dont care what celebrities do or get upto one bit. Some are a law to themselves, and others break the law and get away with it.
Celebrities used to be people to look upto, but now a days they jump from one bed to another. Its no wonder their marriages dont last more than 2 years, Its all about hype and money not kids, love and family.

Frankly speaking, what celebrities do in their private lives is the last thing that interests me. If I hear of a hollywood divorce, my only reaction is - 'oh ok, whatever'. It's hard work keeping up anyway...! wink

Why do people care about soap operas? It's drama. Why people buy into that rubbish by purchasing the magazines in the first place is a mystery. Yeah, okay. I get it you're a fan of their work, but I can garuantee you that they would appreciate the entire freaking country staying out of their personal affairs.

Celebrity watching is the same as watching a soap opera. People care because it's all one big storyline they keep up with. It's like celebrities are here for society's entertainment, even when they're not "performing."

    It's pretty warped.

How many celebrity marriages have lasted over 30 years. I don't know if you can find more than 10. It would be more interesting to find out why they succeeded than those that failed.

i care becuase i'm curious if it's going to affect up coming movies or what ever the celebrity is famous for. they are famous for it because we love watching them perform and if their divorce is going to push back the movie, cancel it or they'll find a replacement i want to know so that i don't look forward to something that's not going to happen.

I don't care about celebrity divorces. I'm sure some people do because it's another form of entertainment. cool

I think that people who care about other people's marital problems, like to live vicariously through others.
